Red Oak Grove welcomes all to their family-friendly and enjoyable events, attended by wonderful Wiccans, dancing Druids, happy Heathens and other beautiful, Earth-centered, spiritual folk, in the gorgeous pine and oak forests of southern New Jersey.
Here are a few highlights of what you can expect at this weekend celebration:
Our Honored God: Mising (yes, his name is "Mising") Our Honored Kindred: The Nature Spirits Our Honored Focus: Life and Growth
* Guided Meditation Workshop: To meet one of the requirements of his ADF Initiate Program, White-Elk will be discussing the merits of engaging in regular sessions of Guided Meditation. Then, he'll guide you on a short session, himself. Have a seat, lean back and reeelllaaax.
* Drumming Workshop – Masmoudi, Beladi and Basic Melody: Yes, that banging noisemaker CAN actually make music! Weather permitting, this beginner's drum workshop will show basic, established and ancient Middle-Eastern-type rhythms. From super-energetic fast ones to hauntingly-sensual slow ones, you'll learn how to recognize them, how to play them and what's REALLY important... how to get beautiful people to dance for you all night long! Please bring your own Doumbek, Darbuka or Djembe. A simple and *effective* study guide is provided for each participant and success IS guaranteed! REALLY!
* Surf-Walker's Astrology 101 Workshop: This is the first of a series of Workshops given by Surf-Walker on the subject of Astrology for personal enlightenment and growth. Spend some time with him as he discusses the basics of the Signs, the Planets and the Major Houses.
* Another Workshop? Want it to be YOURS? Want free admission for you and your guest? Want a place of honor in our Ritual? Want to raise your reputation in the Pagan Community? Contact us immediately! We're looking for Workshops for all our 2012 outdoor celebrations the weekends of: Jun 29-Jul 01, Aug 03-05, Sept 14-15 and Oct 12-14.
*Main Ritual: Our May Day Ritual is one of the most anticipated of the year! Spring Has Arrived!!! And we welcome the return of the warm weather as only Druids can! Expect loud singing, dancing, and a traditional May Pole ceremony that's a little different than you'd expect. You'll be *part* of the ceremony re-enacting the why and what of the May Pole, which you're sure to find very meaningful and incredibly fun!
* Drum Circle: Make use of that drum you brought for the Drumming Workshop and keep the energy going late into the evening with an awesome drum circle around a roaring fire! The rest of you, get-up and create a Communal Dance of the Elements and shake-up the molecules!
* Bodine Field: This is an awesome campsite… and our favourite. Right next to our sites, there is both a clean and spacious Porta-Pottie and a nearby pump with fresh, cold well-water. It is vital that *everyone* bring their own chair; otherwise, you'll be sitting on the ground! We'll be bringing long tables, but if you can bring one too, it won't go to waste. Our events are always 'rain or shine' because we own *two* thirty-foot long, covered pavilions, so even in the worst of weather, we're always warm and dry. Best of all, at Bodine Field, there is a beautiful, healing, cedar-water river that runs RIGHT next to the site! Kids of all ages will love taking a swim to cool off and get clean, anytime you feel like it. At its deepest point the water is only about four feet deep, and the current is very mild. (But parents, you must watch your own kids at all times.)
*Food: We ask that you bring your own or sharable food for Friday eve – but we will provide all other meals and drinks, including a Feast on Saturday evening. Our Grove owns a fully-stocked Kitchen-Trailer and it's set-up for everyone to use. To cut down on waste and dish-washing, we request everyone to bring their own plate, bowl, cup & utensils, and *wash your own stuff* after meals. Thank you!
*Your Workshop Presenters:
Surf-Walker has been a Pagan for some twenty years and is very well-known in our Pagan Community. Feeding a deep interest in the stars and their meanings, he was part of a large Astrology Study Community for over a decade. He also has a deep interest in Magnified Healing in the tradition of Quan Yin, the Compassionate Rebel. He's a Jedi, a Musician and surprisingly knowledged in the subject of fine Lagers and Ales.
White-Elk Taliesin was a devout Catholic in his youth, then a nearly two-decade solitary practitioner of Wicca, and is now a Druid of Ár nDraíocht Féin. He found ROG as a life-saving happenstance some three years ago and his life hasn't been the same since. He's now the Chief Druid of Red Oak Grove. With a brain full of some of the most varied and eclectic knowledge, he's been a Scientist, a Historian, a Storyteller, a Starship Captain and bring him a length of rope, he'll show a few of the coolest knots you'd ever want to see!
