NYC Pagan Alliance [Witchvox Sponsor] announces...

Evolution of Modern Paganism: Who and Where We Are Today

When: Dec. 11th. 2012
Where: Brooklyn, New York

Evolution of Modern Paganism: Who and Where We Are Today

Event Details: The Pagan Way Anniversary Lecture Series.

Forty years ago on June 21st 1972, The Warlock Shop opened for business in Brooklyn Heights. This store was owned by Herman Slater and Eddie Buczynski at 300 Henry Street. In addition to advertising in the Village Voice, they created a lecture series in November of 1972, to help build the Pagan community (as well as to draw customers back to their store)
A full account of how the Warlock Shop came about (and eventually moved to Manhattan to become the Magickal Childe) can be found in Michael Lloyd's book, "Bull of Heaven: The Mythic Life of Eddie Buczynski and the Rise of the New York Pagan"

40 years ago, the lectures were held in a variety of places including the First Unitarian Universalist Society in Brooklyn. The First Unitarian Universalist Church will host these lectures with Rev. Jude Geiger coordinating logistics and community outreach.

Each lecture will be from 7 - 8:30 with a Q & A afterward.
