Anton & Davis [Witchvox Sponsor] presents...

Drumming Workshop

When: Oct. 23rd. 2010
Where: New Paltz, New York

Come and Drum

Event Details: The much revered Davis & always affable Anton, will be hosting this class on drumming specifically designed and aimed at circle drumming.

The class is fine for beginners and will include both practical drumming information (how to make the basic tones, how to care for your drum and hands - including positions for playing) , esoteric drumming information (raising & moving energy with drums, Kaballah of sound, etc.) , drum circle etiquette (how to enter a drum circle, how to follow a lead drummer, how to share the sound scape, etc.) and some good ol' circle drumming - maybe learn a rhythm ot two along the way... There are rumors that our very own Dave (Count Bassist) Kovar, will lend a hand (quite literally) for some rhythm training.

The session will wrap up with a drum jam where you get opportunity to put everything you've learnt together.

We have a few extra drums for those who don't own one... but definitely do bring a drum if you have one. We are aiming more for the djembe, ashiko, dumbek type of drum, but hand drums of pretty much any kind are welcome. You could even schlep along your 10 shell rock kit.. but it might be a tad of over-kill.

Come & Drum! - Great fun and great value at just $20 per person. For more information and/or to reserve your place, you MUST CALL the store on 845 255 5756. A deposit is required to hold your place as numbers are limited.

Event Location: 180 Main Street in New Paltz
Event TIME Details: 7-9:30pm

Directions: We are very lucky to be in the beautiful Hudson Valley, 180 Main St. in New Paltz, N.Y. Located midway (90 mins.) from NYC or Albany. From I-87 get off at exit 18 and that’s New Paltz, the ramp comes to a T and at that light make a left. You are now on Rte 299 and it becomes Main St. You will pass back over the Thruway (I-87) and at that next light go straight, past Shoprite Plaza on the left, shortly you will come to another light by Dunkin Donuts on the left, again go straight past Mc Donalds, the road dips down and comes back up to another light, go straight at this light, but go slowly because we are the first house on the left after this light. The Awareness Shop is in an amazing old 3 story Victorian, lovingly painted Purple (as no other color would do) . There is a 30 square foot sign in the front lawn, and you may park on either side of the street, or turn up Mill Rock Rd. (on the right) and park on either side of that street too. We also have a parking in the back of the shop, but it’s a small lot that fits about 8 cars and by midday it could be filled. Sometimes folks park at the Convient Deli lot, right after the last light and walk down and that’s fine too.

We are open 7 days a week. Monday thru Friday 11.30 - 6.30, Saturday & Sunday 11.30 - 5.30
Readings begin daily at 12 or 1 and the last consultation is booked ˝ hour prior to closing.
