Aonghus Ascends: the Sun in Youth
Event Details: Inis Úll - Apple Isle Protogrove, ADF cordially invites you to our Yule High Day celebration.
On the morning of the Winter Solstice, the reborn Sun sends a shaft of light across the threshold of Newgrange, illuminating its darkest depths. This Neolithic monument is simultaneously Brugh na Bóinne, a majestic and mysterious home to the Tuatha Dé Danann. For untold years, this palace was the seat of the Dagda - until his son, Aonghus proved his knowledge of the nature of time and rightly ascended to the throne.
Join us as we celebrate Aonghus’s coronation with a feast fit for this renowned God of Youth at the time when the Sun is also but new. We will honor Aonghus with a full ADF High Day rite as we share food and drink with him and the great Kindreds of the Gaelic world. We will tell stories, sing songs, make offerings of objects meant to please Aonghus - and we will receive his blessings in return.
We ask that everyone bring something to eat or drink to share with the group. Also, please bring a small wrapped present; these will become the vehicles for Aonghus’s blessings (our Paganized, magickal take on the “Secret Santa” tradition) . Of course, in order to receive those blessings, we must also make heartfelt offerings to the God first: so, sing him a song, tell him a joke, give him a drink - whatever you think he would like!
Candles (with holders) , evergreen boughs and other contributions to our community hearth and altar would be strongly welcomed!
We will be asking for donations ten dollars per person to cover the cost of the rental space. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds - your participation is more valuable than cash!

Directions: The rite will take place at Ripley-Grier Studios, 131 West 72nd Street (between Amsterdam & Columbus) . The room will be booked under "ADF".
