A Druidic Imbolc Celebration
Event Details: The great Gael Goddess Bríd’s name is strongly connected to the early Celtic concept of Brigâ; literally, “energy welling up.” At Imbolctide, milk wells up within ewes’ breasts, anticipating the birth of their kids which is soon to follow. In much the same way, Spring is welling up beneath the cloak of Winter: the energy of life-reborn is surging beneath the surface, ready to regenerate, to heal, to nourish, to protect, to transform…
In our observance of this day most holy, we will ask Bríd to allow her well to well up within us - first, as individuals; second, as a group; and third, in communion with the watershed which makes life in our region possible. As individuals, the energy will heal, nourish and transform as each is in need or desires. As a group, the energy will guide and fuel us as we transition from Protogrove to Grove. In communion with the watershed, the energy will heal the effects of pollution and other abuse and protect the vital aquifers from assaults - particularly from the dire threat of hydrofracking.
We ask that everyone bring something to offer Bríd: perhaps a song or poem, an object of beauty, delicious food or drink - whatever your heart tells you she might appreciate! Feel free, too, to bring offerings for any of the Gael Kindreds we shall be inviting to our working.
Candles (with holders) , seasonal decorations and other contributions to our community hearth and altar would be strongly welcomed!
We will be asking for donations ten dollars per person to cover the cost of the rental space. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds - your participation is more valuable than cash!
