Samhain Rite
Event Details: The Samhain Feast is one of our most solemn and powerful rites of the year, the time of the end of summer and the beginning of winter in the Celtic year; a between time when the spirits draw near to the mortal world and mortals open our hearts to our beloved Dead.
The Samhain Rite is focused on the Mighty Dead, and on two deities of the Underworld. We will honor Donn, a form of Cernunnos, who is the Irish Lord of the Dead. It is said that the Dead go first to the island off the west of the land called the House of Donn, there to wait the ships that will take them to the Land of the Dead. We also honor the Morrigan, the Queen of Spirits, who is the chooser of the Slain, the Fate of Heroes, the Keeper of the Cauldron of Rebirth. We will hear the voices of the Queen and the Dark One, as we make offerings to our Beloved Dead.
As always, we will make an Ancestor Altar - feel free to bring a photo or token of your own ancestors to place on the Altar.
There will be a potluck feast following the Rite. If you would like to join us for the feast, please bring an item or dish that will feed 10 to 15.

Event TIME Details: 2 pm to 9 pm -- Rite at 4:00 pm

Directions: Take I-90 to S.O.M. Center/Rt. 91 South. Turn east/left on Route 6. Turn south/right on River Road. River Grove is located on the right, past Squire's Castle. The Chestnut Shelter is the left fork (the heated, enclosed shelter) .
