Maguelonne Toussant-Samat observed that mead “can be regarded as the ancestor of all fermented drinks.” This fermentation of honey and water is not only one of the oldest fermented drinks, it is also one of the easiest to brew at home. Taren Martin will talk about the different varieties of mead and explain how to get started in the rewarding hobby of meadmaking.
Best known for his artwork, Taren Martin is also an accomplished amateur brewer. His award winning mead has brought up to $75 a bottle at charity auctions. The mead he brews is not for sale, but his Pagan prints, cards and tee shirts can be purchased from Wolfden Designs (www.wolfden-designs.com) or through Pagan and New Age retailers
