Widdershin's [Witchvox Sponsor] presents...

Samhain 2009

When: Nov. 7th. 2009
Where: Greenville, South Carolina

Celebrating the Celtic New Year

Event Details: A Druidic/Greek Ritual. Gather at 7PM. Meditation at 7:30PM (optional) . Rite at 8PM. Feast of the God and Goddess following Rite (please bring a covered dish as your offering) . Bring a chair
At this year's Samhain Ritual we will have two covens as Special Guests. We have invited Crow's Gleann of Simpsonville, SC and Gaia's Wisdom Coven and School of Pagan Thought of Sumter, SC.
Please dress for Ritual - Robes and/or cloaks, a long, flow-y dark dress...that would be perfect. Think flow-y, nice (not jeans & t-shirt) ...peasant tops, long skirts. And WARM as it will be cold. Clothes can help set the mood and frame of mind...so think witchy.
The Feast of the God & Goddess How much to bring- A good rule of thumb is to bring "enough for your party + approximately 4 more servings". This means if you plan to come alone (1 + 4) that would be about 5-6 servings. If you have a family of 4 (4 + 4) , so figure about 8-10 servings. Of course extra is always appreciated. This way, with everyone participating, there will be ample food for all to enjoy and no one feels as though they have to provide for everyone who is attending (which can be very costly) . Now, as for What to bring- To begin, there are always the favorite pot-luck staples such as casseroles - easy to cook, easy to serve, and can be made as either as a meat dish or as vegetarian fare. Side dishes can include pastas, vegetable dishes, breads & grains, and let's don't forget the desserts for Goddess sake! If you don't cook, (Yes, guys, I'm primarily, but not exclusively, talking to you, ) there are still plenty of things besides chips that you can offer to bring. After all, this is a harvest festival - so use your imagination. Try fresh fruits, fresh veggies & dip, or nuts & seeds. You can drop by Sam's for a gallon jar of "5 Bean Salad", or go by any grocery deli for potato salad or Ambrosia, or you can even pick up bagged salad mixes and some dressing. Aside from the ones I've mentioned, there is always a need for soft drinks (cans and/or bottles) , bottled water, ice coolers & ice, and paper or plastic products (ie: plates, napkins, cups, cutlery, paper towels and toilet paper) . Just drop a quick e-mail or call Widder with an idea of what you would like to bring. This way DJ can loosely monitor what's coming and we won't end up with 15, 000 plastic cups, 20 desserts, and NO FOOD!
Your non-perishable food donation will go to the Upstae Pagan Family Food Bank.
Cameras welcome if you share the pictures with us.
RSVP would greatly be appreciated. This will be a child friendly Rite for children over 5, but you must be 18 years old or with a parent or guardian to attend Ritual.
