Welcome Friends, Witches, Pagans & Druids:
HearthStone Protogrove from Austin, Blackland Prairie Protogrove from DFW, & Live Oaks Protogrove from Houston are all proud to announce our Imbolc Retreat plans for Celebrating the ancient Celtic Fire Festival of Oimelc (Imbolc) .
This year's Texas Imbolc Retreat, the annual gathering of ADF's Central Region, will be held at the U-Bar-U campground, in Kerrville, located just outside the towns of San Antonio & Austin.
U-Bar-U Retreat & Conference Center is approximately 125 miles west of Austin in the scenic Texas Hill Country. It is located in the Southwest corner of Gillespie County and contains the second highest elevation in Gillespie County. The highest elevation is on the property contiguous to U-Bar-U. Directions located on http://ubaru.org/.
The site is completely fenced with a solar-powered entry gate. The available buildings consist of two cottages plus a storage barn, a sheep shearers' shed, and a 3100 square foot meetinghouse. One of the cottages is straw bale construction. There is a 35' diameter circular limestone rock pool with a deck, two labyrinths, and a fire circle. The water is straight out of the Edwards Aquifer from a 300' well powered by a windmill and an electric pump. There two bedrooms in the Meeting House and the two cabins, each of which accommodates about 10-12 people. There are four total showers and each housing unit has sitting room, porch and decks, and kitchen facilities ranging from the commercial kitchen to kitchenettes. There are ping pong, foos ball, bocci, horseshoes, a treehouse, rope swing, hiking trails, a campfire ring, two labyrinths, a card table, puzzles, games, piano, guitar and telescopes.
Drumming & Fire Revelry
Druid & Celtic Rituals
Schedules, when available, will be posted on the FB event page.
Tent camping is available. 48 beds are available. Food is provided if you purchase that tier of ticket. If vegan/vegetarian, please provide your own food. We will give you a discount. Please bring your own pillow cases and sheets. Blankets are provided.
U-Bar-U has a bathroom facility and there will also be shower facilities, but you must bring your own towel. Hotel/motel accommodations are available in the town of Kerrville about 30 minutes away.
There will be activities for children of all ages. Please pack clothes that can get paint, mud, and clay on them.
This year ADF clergy Rev. Amber Cannon and Rev. Jon Pagano will be speaking as well as local Herbalist and Tarot Reader Cristina Ayala.
This year we are excited to be joined and entertained by the lovely Gretchen McMahon and Susan Petros of McMahon & Petros! They blend equal parts Celtic Women harmonies with Carlos Santana and Loreena McKinnett's string prowess on acoustic guitar, Celtic harp and mandolin.
Brings drums and hand instruments for revelry around the fire!
We encourage all to participate in the bardic circle. Share your talents in song, poem, storytelling, etc.
There will be several rituals performed during this festival. There will be an opening, main, consecration, and closing rituals. We encourage you to bring pendants, magickal tools, etc you wish to consecrate with the water drawn directly from Brigid's Well in Liscannor, Co. Clare. We will also have a well set up if you want to consecrate tools in a personal ritual.
Children under 7 are free, 7-17 less than half price.
