When: Oct. 30th. 2004
Where: Salt Lake City, Utah

Public Ancestor Feast and Samhain Ritual

Event Details: SunStave Samhain Celebration, a public community ritual, will be offered to the community by the Rainbow Flame Chapter of CUUPS on the evening of Saturday, October 30th, 2004, at South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society (SVUUS) , 6876 South 2000 East, SLC. All are invited to participate in sacred ceremony, a journey to the Underworld, a community feast and other activities.
Gathering for this ritual will be at 4 PM. We will be serving a sit-down dinner as the first part of the evening; dinner service will begin promptly at 5 PM. CUUPS is providing a spaghetti main course (vegan sauce with optional meatball addition) and an apple cobbler dessert. Please bring a potluck contribution to the feast, as follows:
Last name A-E: Appetizer, soup, or salad (no potato or macaroni, please)
Last name F-L: Fruit, starch or vegetable side dish, hot or cold
Last name M-R: Bread and butter, crackers and cheese, breadsticks, etc.
Last name S-Z: Dessert
Please bring dishes and utensils and beverage of choice for all in your party. Apple cider, coffee and ice water will be provided.
Families are encouraged to bring their children to eat supper even if you are going trick-or-treating later. For the ritual later, child care is available. Please let us know if you will require child care so we may have sufficient caregivers available. Dinner will precede the ritual and dessert will follow it as a grounding exercise.
RITUAL WILL BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 7 PM. Ritual will be partly indoors and partly outdoors so dress for the weather (and wearing of costumes is encouraged!) You are invited to bring a picture or other remembrance of a loved one who has died to assist you in your work in the Underworld. Drums and other noisemakers are encouraged for the processional.
Barding will be encouraged during dinner and dessert. Please sign up on the whiteboard at the ritual during orientation if you would like to present a barding.
Non-perishable food items for Hildegarde's Pantry are being collected as part of the Final Harvest ritual. Please feel free to contribute.
