Event Details: GAIA'S BODY: Developing Intimacy with the Earth and Discovering the Magick of Ecology
As someone who holds the Earth dear, and follows an "Earth based spirituality", how well do you know the Earth, Gaia, our mother and our home? How intimate are you with her? How much time do you spend with her? Do you spend time with her on a regular basis?
Do you know how our home, this earth was created, the miracle of it all, and the magick that is the air we breathe, the waters of our birth, the rocks - bones of the earth our mother, and the energy we receive - directly from the Sun and indirectly by eating those things that take energy directly from the sun.
In Gaia's Body we delve *deeply* in to Gaia; we develop a daily practice of observation and connection with her; we journal, write, draw and meditate on and with her; we sing songs that deepen our devotion to and love for the Earth. We develop a spiritual practice rooted in and grounded in the places we live, in nature as she is found, whether you live in an urban centre or an organic farm.
Gaia's Body is also about educating ourselves as to the workings of the earth, our home, and the biosphere of which we are part that holds us all. It's about getting into the nitty gritty of Earth Science and finding awe and wonder in the midst of it, about the interconnectedness of life and ecosystems, rock, river, feather and tree. We'll take short field trips to explore and see examples of our world, the bones of Gaia, the influence of the air, glaciation as it came to northeast North America, water and rivers, and the patterns that surround us and are in us.
Finally, we'll learn about our responsibility to the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water as they are found here on our home planet, how they have been degraded, changed, threatened, or destroyed, and what we can do to be the change we wish to see in the world.
This class is a commitment, but we live in the real world too and finances are tight for us all. I will work with anyone to make this work possible. Barter/exchanges are encouraged and NO ONE is turned away for lack of funds. You may also pay per class $55 - $80 US sliding scale.
