Merry Meet!
Are you interested in meeting others to study, learn and grow in both life and spirituality? Do you want to learn more about Paganism and Pagan practices, or do you feel drawn to share your knowledge? Do you wish to dance the Spiral Dance, or celebrate the seasons with other likeminded individuals? Or do you simply want to make new friends and have a lot of fun? If so, then we may have what you're looking for.
It's often said that people learn better by doing, and are more inclined to remember and use what they've learned if they've enjoyed themselves and had fun. And this is what we hope to promote. We hold regular study circles for all interested people in the inner Brisbane/Westside area. Although we get together to learn and grow, our main emphasis is on fun and we hope to build strong and lasting friendships too. Therefore, we plan to involve fun activities and exercises with every Circle, and get together to celebrate the holidays too.
We are a young and relatively new group, with only a few regular members, so now is the perfect time for anyone interested in joining a group, as we're still in the organisation, planning and growing phase. We also thrive on having everyone contribute during the circles. So whether you wish to lead a discussion on a certain topic, or simply bring up an issue you're curious but don't know much about, send word or come along and help make things interesting, enlightening and even educational! As we all know, the more people we have to come and share their information, the more diverse and successful a study group can be. And the more interesting and fun activities can be planned ^_^.
There is no hierarchy or rigidly formal structure to the group, and everyone who's interested and willing will be encouraged to participate in all aspects. This is not a coven, nor are we affiliated with any organised group, and we wish to keep the atmosphere relaxed, friendly, open and welcoming to all. We are eclectic and open to exploring all branches of Paganism, and even looking into other faiths when relevant. Simply, we are whatever it is you want :)
As many of us do live busy and hectic lifestyles, we only meet once a fortnight, and occassionally in between for holidays or other celebrations. Study Circles also alternate between one Friday and one Saturday every month to further increase availability to everyone, even if it is only once per moon cycle. Of course, attendance will never be expected to be mandatory and you're free to come and go whenever it suits you. Every so often, we hope to have a fun social day with trips to the beach or forest walks, and picnics or BBQs in the park. Although our main aim is to learn, we'll doubtless become great friends too.
If you're interested in joining this study group, then please send me an email so that future details can be planned and sent out, and invitations and details can be recieved in advance. We're also working on creating a webpage so that an e-group can also be formed so that we may learn from our more distant brothers and sisters who may have difficulties in physically joining for a study group. However, this is also subject to how many willing and tech savvy people we'll have in our midst. The astral planes and virtual networks know no physical bounds, and neither will we. This group is also not restricted to only Pagans, and anyone willing to learn or contribute is welcome to come and join in the fun!
The next Study Circle will be based on herbalism, natural healing and properties of plants, food and minerals. We'll also discuss some poisons and everyday remedies that can be found in your own backyard. Furthermore, we'll be making face creams and masks, infusions (or potions) and small, simple charms.
This circle will take place on Saturday the 29th of November. Although it's encouraged for people to start arriving around 6pm, the Circle won't commence til around 7pm to make way for PST, traffic jams and other common interferences. It'll take place at 91 Burns Pde, Chapel Hill (so on Brisbane's west side, just behind Indooroopilly) , RSVP will be appreciated simply by replying through this site, sending word to nika022@hotmail.com or sending a text to 0401 793 579.
It is expected that everyone bring a plate or drink to contribute to the shared feast we'll enjoy, and will be appreciated if every person may also include a gold coin (or more if you can afford it) donation to help cover the costs of the materials needed to make the creams, potions and other knicknacks. As there are several vegetarians present, there will be vego alternatives so don't worry about missing out on BBQs or anything!
Following this, the next Circle will be held on Friday the 12th of December, and at this time is believed to be covering differences between high and low magic, ritualistic practices and some different branches of Paganism.
