Group Overview: Australian Reclaiming Community (which has been in existence for several years) facilitates seasonal celebrations for families with children as well as full moon celebrations. Australian Reclaiming Community also provides workshops, education in women’s mysteries and magical consultations. Further, we provide resources for pagan families who are creating rituals with children.Australia Reclaiming Community provide public seasonal celebrations that are family friendly. We accept and encourage participation in the rituals we hold.

Reclaiming is a community of women and men working to unify spirit and politics. Our vision is rooted in the religion and magic of the Goddess, the Immanent Life Force. We see our work as teaching and making magic; the art of empowering ourselves and each other. In our classes, workshops, and public rituals, we train our voices, bodies, energy, intuition, and minds. We use the skills we learn to deepen our strength, both as individuals and as community, to voice our concerns about the world in which we live, and bring to birth a vision of a new culture.

We subscribe to the Reclaiming Principles of Unity, that explains the philosophy of Reclaiming, which is a tradition that combines earth-based spirituality and political activism, using magic as a means of transformation, as inspired by Starhawk.

We aim to study the Goddess myths and use these myths as tools for healing our lives. We embrace egalitarianism, and our values are reflected in the equal sharing of leadership roles and the use of consensus decision making. We are a non-hierarchical group and practise facilitation and share equally in decision-making. The group has an environmental earth path, community focus and is looking to explore magical activism.

We aim to develop a dynamic, creative tradition, which draws on values of the Reclaiming Tradition. In honouring the Divine Feminine, we recognise our responsibility to actively honour the earth, ourselves and each other in our everyday lives.

The Australia Reclaiming Community group aim to provide public rituals held at the important seasonal celebrations such as Spring Equinox, etc.

The Australian Reclaiming Community formed nationally in September 2009, from the Melbourne Reclaiming group as well as members from other states in Australia. We currently are planning the inaugural Australian Witch Camp in 2011. Further news regarding exact dates, location, accommodation, website and costs will be provided soon.

NEWSFLASH: The Australian Reclaiming Community (ARC) is pleased to announce that we will be holding our first Australian Reclaiming WitchCamp in Victoria, over the Easter weekend next year (Thurs April 21 to Mon April 25, 2011) . This will be the FIRST EVER Reclaiming WitchCamp in Australia!

The international Reclaiming Community began organising WitchCamps in the 1980s in the US. They have been such successful events that now there are regular Reclaiming WitchCamps held throughout the US, Canada and Western Europe. Reclaiming WitchCamps are intensive learning and deeply transformative experiences for all who attend them. Each Camp includes a series of workshops and rituals which are created by an experienced teaching team, in accordance with the particular theme of that camp.

Please visit the Reclaiming WitchCamp Website for an overview: www.witchcamp.org

The Teaching Team for the 2011 Australian WitchCamp will include two international Reclaiming teachers, and one Australian Reclaiming Teacher. Also on the team will be three student teachers, who will work together with each of the Reclaiming teachers to offer deep and transformative workshops.

We are pleased to be able to offer 3 student teacher positions to anyone who is interested in becoming a Reclaiming Teacher. We invite anyone who is interested in being a student teacher on the teaching team for our WitchCamp to apply for the role. Please contact Jane Meredith jane@janemeredith.com for details of application procedure.

We ask that all applicants demonstrate that they are committed to the Reclaiming Principles of Unity (see below) and to building the Reclaiming Community here in Australia. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate that they have experience priestessing/priesting and teaching in their own communities.
Applications are due by the 6th of June, 2010.

For more information about Reclaiming WitchCamps, please visit: www.witchcamp.org

Unfortunately, it is Reclaiming protocol for student teachers to not be paid for their teaching work - the payment comes in the form of free training. However, free accommodation and meals may be available to student teachers, in the event that all the basic costs for the camp are covered.

The Australian Reclaiming Community (ARC) is a collective of different Reclaiming-identified groups and individuals across Australia. If you would like more information on ARC, or are interested in joining our collective, please visit our website:
