Drumming Circle

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Edmonton, Alberta
Key Contact: Kriket

Spiritual Path: Global Shamanism
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Teaching Available

Group Overview: Have you often thought of joining a drumming circle, but despaired because you lack an internal beat?

The joy of our drumming circle is that you don't need an internal beat to play with us. A shamanic drumming circle has a different focus. We gather to drum, but our drumming is to call in our Spirits. Our drumming is to awaken our physical bodies. Our drums beat loudly to call to Spirit and tell them we are coming. Our drums carry us deep into the Spirit World, places where the World Tree carries us up, down and through the places where our dreams come from.

The joy of a shamanic circle is sharing our learnings and our teachings with each other. We come together twice a month to learn new approaches to working with our spirits. Our journeys take us to the Upper World, the dwelling places of our spiritual guides. Our journeys take us into our Middle World, right here where we care, to learn the language of our plants spirits and elements. We then travel down tunnels or into caves only to emerge in the Lower World, the place where our spiritkin dwell. These are the mysterious and wonderous places you go with a shamanic drummig circle.

We know no two circles are ever the same. No two journeys are ever the same. We are a wonderful group from all backgrounds and all ages. We gather for teachings, learnings and for laughter.

If lack of drum or rattle is stopping you do not despair there are always extras floating around. There are no groups to join or yearly fees to pay, just simply donate $5 towards the cost of renting the temple. If you come and find it is not for you, then we wish you blessings on your path.

Hope to see you there.

Kriket has been studying shamanism for 15 years and has been leading circles since 1996. Her studies include anthroplogy, intact traditional cultures; the anthropology of consciousness and comparative legends and myths. She strives to make each circle a new and vibrant experience.

She has trained with Sandra Ingerman, Melidoma Some, Betsy Bergstrom and has taken many workshops from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies through Leslie Conton and Gizelle Rhyon-Berry. She leads a shamanic wilderness workshop every fall. She is a healer, writer and circle enthusiast.
