Spiritual Path: Spira
Status: Established Group

Group Overview: Spira is a modern earth-based (pagan) religion that has some commonalties with Wicca, Druidism and Shamanism. It is a spiritual path that is focused on balance between male and female divine energies, balance between order and chaos and balance in the natural world. Spira seeks to honor the divine through ritual that celebrates the cycles of our natural world. We celebrate the solar solstices and equinoxes as well as the midpoints between the solstices and equinoxes. We also celebrate the lunar cycle through full-moon rituals.

Spira has a strong ethical code of behavior that is called "the Spiric 9". This code includes mandates such as respect, do not harm, do not steal and love. We believe that these morals are universal and that they transcend religion and culture. Members of our congregation are expected to try and live up to this code in their everyday lives.

Members of Spira believe that the divine is a universal energy that connects all living things and that there is a sacred pattern to the universe, which is understood as deities. Within our tradition we use male and female deity archetypes because we believe that there is both male and female energy patterns and we wish to honor this duality in our lives and in our ritual. We have 5 deity archetypes, which are order, chaos, independence, inspiration and wisdom. Almost all deities can be categorized in this way and thus our tradition allows for a breadth of deities and pantheons to be used.

Spira is strongly rooted in nature and therefore our members believe that nature is sacred and should be treated with respect. This includes the wilderness, animals and people. Part of our belief system is that every individual has at least one animal that they have an affinity with, which we call a totem animal. Totem animals are spiritual guides and are to be treated with respect and dignity.

Spiric Pagans have a strong belief in reincarnation, that the soul has many lifetimes, traveling on it's own personal spiral towards enlightenment. It is our belief that the soul retains the lessons and knowledge gained in each life, even if the conscious mind does not.

Spira is a religion of tolerance, balance and reverence for the universe and all that it contains.
