Group Overview: Vancouver Reclaiming is an ecstatic, feminist, tradition of Witchcraft that brings together spirit and politics. As a community we are non-hierarchical and welcome people of all ages, genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, abilities and socio-economic backgrounds, celebrating diversity in all its forms.
The Vancouver Reclaiming Community is part of the larger international Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft, which was begun in San Francisco in the late '70s by the Reclaiming Collective, of which Starhawk was a member (for more information see reclaiming.org) . There are now Reclaiming communities all over North America, as well as Europe and beyond.
While it is usual to take classes, attend rituals etc. within the Reclaiming Tradition before choosing to identify yourself as a Reclaiming Witch, identification with the Principles of Unity (http://www.vancouverreclaiming.org/?page=unity) is the only real 'gatekeeper' to the Reclaiming Tradition: "To be a Reclaiming Witch, one simply names oneself so, actively agreeing to embrace the Principles of Unity".
