Group Overview: Sault Ste. Marie Pagan Association is a hope, a goal, and a perpetual work in progress. We came together in Spring of 2005 out of a desire for community, knowing that if one was going to develop, someone had to take the first steps.
SSMPA is well on its way to representing a thriving community, with Sabbat celebrations and social events for both its active members and the local community at large. We are neither a coven nor a teaching group; our purpose is rather to create opportunities for local Pagans to meet and gather. SSMPA also hosts Sault Ste. Marie's annual Pagan Pride Day event.
One of our founders and board members is a licensed wedding officiant in the province of Ontario and an experienced liturgist. She is always happy to consult with those seeking meaningful celebrations.
For secondary school students who wish to complete Community Involvement hours, we are willing to discuss volunteering possibilities with principals and parents (please note that we have not yet been accepted as a permissible volunteer placement; the responsibility for putting this into motion remains with the student and his or her parent/s) . While volunteers who self-identify as Pagan are ideal, any volunteer comfortable within a Neo-Pagan framework is welcome. Please note: Absolutely no volunteers under the age of 18 will be accepted without written parental consent.
