Group Overview: The Oak Moon coven is intended to be a working coven rather than a formal teaching or training coven. We meet in person, usually once a week, to discuss, share, and learn from each other. We all have things to teach, and things to learn. We celebrate full moon rituals and observe the standard eight annual Wiccan Sabbats. We work robed. We are based in Oakville, Ontario Canada.
Our Wiccan system is based on the Principles of Wiccan Belief, holds the Wiccan Rede as a guiding philosophy, and draws from the work of Doreen Valiente and Janet & Stewart Farrar among others. Our philosophy will evolve based on our members' interests and needs. We do not claim to offer membership in a formal established initiatory lineage. Our coven is egalitarian rather than hierarchical with all members expected to participate rather than rely on a high priest or high priestess.
The Oak Moon coven will have limited membership with applicants going through a screening process before being invited to attend a meeting, and eventually being invited to become a permanent member. It is important for us to have a group of like minds who work well together. Applicants who are not a good fit for our group will be encouraged to contact other groups in the greater Toronto area that might be more suitable for them.
