Group Overview: Our path is service as is the tradition of monasteries. We serve the Gods by serving others. We serve marginalized Mexicans. We offer equine and water therapy to disabled people. We offer swimming opportunities and art classes to socioeconomically marginalized children and adults. We teach English to second language learners.
Our location is in a rural indigenous village. We are on over a hectare of land with four horses, six dogs, cats, and other farm animals and organic gardens. Rev. Omi is mundanely known as Dr. Jacqueline Zaleski Mackenzie. She walks a Shaman path. Omi was raised Lutheran and became Unitarian Universalist at age 16. Her study of Buddhism and Hinduism began in her late 20’s. Aspects of all of those combine with her Shamanistic practice. She was ordained by Shaman, ATC, Universal Brotherhood, and Asatru leadership before beginning her prison ministry about 20 years ago. Her academic acknowledgements include the study of cultures, languages, and special educational needs.
We have helped another nonprofit by giving our labor from October 2008 to May 2012 to build a local community center. We wrote an awarding-winning book (four awards) to raise awareness of how to help educate Spanish speakers in the USA. Our goal is to build rural libraries to empower marginalized Mexicans through access to knowledge.
We celebrate our faith on our land and with Aztec locals in their ritual spaces. We hold public rituals for all eight Sabbats. We also celebrate Full Moons and New Moons. Omi is a qualified teacher and will teach upon request. Omi believes in harm none. Therefore, she does not promote our faith as this path is hard for those who follow it.
