Troubadours of Albion Witchcraft Community
Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: London, England
Key Contact: Vanessa/Andrew
Spiritual Path: Traditional Brythonic
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Teaching Available

Group Overview: The Troubadours of Albion are a community of Cunning-Folk working for the betterment of Paganism in Albion. We seek to teach, explore, have fun and all those other good things, but we also look to protect the interests of Pagans in Albion generally, and Brythonic Pagans in particular. We do this in a variety of ways.
We are traditional, hereditary Cunning Folk who wish to preserve the Olde Ways as practiced by our Keltic ancestors. Our motivation is what we see as the dumbing down of Craft practices to the point where, when folk mention Witchcraft, they automatically evoke the sensational bells-and-wizards imagery best left in Hollywood, Crowley et al., and usually don't progress beyond that.
There is much we see in the practices of certain others which, if not a pale comparison of the actual practices of those steeped in such things, are outright frauds with the sole intent of taking money but giving nothing of value in return. Of course, in the former case we accept that not everyone is ready for the full-blooded practices of our non-technology-dependent ancestors; then again, a job half done is not begun, and one wonders what can be gained from this.
We also stand for the preservation of the ways of our ancestors - without the sensationalising of the puerile Hollyweird types and the patchwork reconstructionalism of others. We offer history as it is, so that we can track where we came from, and why we do things in a certain way, so that we have a better understanding of our path.
If you live in London, and would like to join us, please feel free to send us an email. However, because we are a community, we must stress that commitment is key, because this is what makes communities work. There is an immense amount of work to be done, and we all need to do our bit.
For those not able to make London on a regular basis, there are other ways of supporting us. Perhaps you'd like to consider associate membership - where you gain some of the privileges of membership including subscription to our news journal, where you find all the special bits and pieces which are too good for the free version. There are also special items you can buy - many hand made with special intent, some branded merchandise which helps you in your daily life and helps us in our various projects, for the benefit of British, and especially Pagan, heritage, and for the future.
As we say in the Troubadours of Albion, all things are possible: even some of the things which aren’t.
Incidentally, while we don't have legally ordained clergy, this is only because in Briton, there is no facility for legal ordination of Pagan clergy. However, the experience we have within Paganism (as hereditary Cunning Folk) gives us qualification a-plenty for any officiation.
