Group Overview: The Blackthorn Coven is a practising group based in the Cheshire/Manchester/Stockport and Tameside area of the North West.
The coven is run by a small core group and we aim to work together to create a group mind that will empower our magical workings.
Our backgrounds are in traditional witchcraft with some elements of Wicca, with a strong leaning towards earth magic and the Celtic tradition.Ritual gatherings are held outdoors on the Sabbats and esbats throughout the year.
We welcome new members who are genuinely interested in sharing our path and learning our ways with us.
Traditional Witchcraft training Course and development group
The Blackthorn Coven takes the training of its potential members very seriously and, having run two successful training courses we now take those interested in joining the group one at a time. In the first instance trainees will join Blackthorn as an apprentice, where they will follow the traditional 13 moons integrating into the group. They will become a part of a close knit magical group working and practising together, and will also be invited to participate in most of the coven’s rituals. After this they are eligible to apply to join the Blackthorn Coven itself.
Our tradition stresses the importance of connecting with nature around us, with local deities and spirits of the land and how to link to that flow of life, to the tides of life and to the that vast web that connects us all and will nearly always practice outside, in the woods. All this is linked to the turning of the year and the elements. We can only do this by developing a strong 'group mind' by sharing our experiences and encouraging the those new to us to develop their own magic and connect with it in the way of our coven.
Our members will no doubt come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. If you would like to apply to join Blackthorn please contact us for further details. Please note that we do not accept anyone under 25 years of age into our coven or to any meetings or rituals.
