Hearth and Home: The Newark Pagan Community
Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Newark on Trent (Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire) , England
Key Contact: Nathan
Spiritual Path: Mixed
Status: Established Group
Community Support: None Offered

Group Overview: (Updated: 19th February 2013)
Hearth and Home: The Newark Pagan Community is a community of Pagans from the picturesque town of Newark on Trent (Nottinghamshire) .
Starting out as a small moot in association with the Nottingham Pagan Network, the ''Newark Moot'' soon grew faster than anyone expected! The group quickly organised itself through the wonders of Facebook and managed to establish itself as THE place to be for Newark Pagans.
Now autonomous from the Nottingham Pagan Network, Hearth and Home has members (fondly referred to as mooties) currently attending an official monthly moot from far and wide, as well as smaller gatherings of members (who now consider each other friends) for lunchens and pub shenanigans.
With such an expansion of members the group had to quickly organise itself to serve the Pagans of Newark and thus events have been/are being planned! Group activities and events currently under way include:

- The Newark and Sherwood Moot
As stated before, the official monthly moot for Newark Pagans occuring every 3rd Sunday of the Month at a local 14th century pub. As well as the potential to make good friends, and have good drinks, the pub provides plenty of beautifully restored original features, and even has a resident ghost if you believe the pictures behind the bar.
- The Hearth and Home Picnic (s)
A wonderful idea that has already happened a couple of times, and plans to continue in the future! Lovely days at the beautiful Castle ruins where many doughnuts can be found. So far the weather has held out for us during our afternoons and early evenings have ended with drinks at the Rupert... Similar excursions are planned for the future!
- Pagan Pride
Having been contacted by the Nottingham Pagan Network, Hearth and Home were invited to Pagan Pride 2012. It was a wonderful day full of fun activities, the Hearth and Home banner could be seen proudly standing near the front of the parade, and you'll see us pop up in lots of the official pictures on Pagan Prides website! Our moot representatives had a productive day as well! Many people approached us after seeing our T-Shirts and asked about the moot, with our Facebook page gaining over 60 new likes within 24 hours. Our latest moots have had lots of new attendees which is great to see, and there's plenty of room for more!
- Study Group
Started and ran by one of our members (for our regular mooties) the study group is open to anyone who wishes to look more into paganism in a more concentrated group. Swapping idea's, talking about different beliefs. Studies have already started but it's never to late to join in! So far (thanks to expert volunteer lead) the study group has been a huge success and we look forward to the continued discussions.
- Camping Trip
Our latest camping trip was planned for August 2012 where many of the groups members headed to the South of the Country. Car sharing a plenty and tents everywhere, the camping trip was a great success! You'll find lots of pictures on our Facebook page collected from a variety of members! Camping with mooties is a great way to get to know each other and make great friendships. The next camping trip is already under discussion (Whitby being our probable destination) .
