Group Overview: Tarian Fawr, or the great shield is a fairly new coven located within the Rhondda Valleys. Our goals are to be a group of support and guidance for those in an area where there is little open paganism, we do not teach new members how to follow our path, but we do show them how to follow thier own paths. We are a working coven, concentrating on teaching, and guidance. With those goals in mind we are usually very open and easy to approach.
We are a modern eclectic coven, drawing our teachings and styles from many different paths, including Alexandrian wicca, traditional witchcraft, shamanism and plain old inspiration. We are a diverse group with an interest in dragons, devas, divination, herb lore and Celtic tree lore. These form a good solid foundation and for our members it means we can offer far more diversity in what we can do.
The pangean tradition is a relatively new pagan tradition formed in the South Wales valleys. The name comes from the prehistoric super continent of Pangea, when all the landmasses where linked as one. That is what the traditions ideals are, all within it, linked into one, regardless of spirituality, race, age or sexuality. With the evolution of the world and its understanding, we are entering a time without boundries. This is the concept of pangean tradition, a tradition that allows us to realise that ideal, to live in the knowledge that thought different, we are all part of something.
Loosely based on Alexandrian Wicca, it has metamorphosed into its own identity, whilst moving away from the mainstream wiccan traditions, and incorporates many aspects of other paths, allowing those who are already a part of and for those who may be interested a chance to develop their own craft.
As a tradition it is constantly evolving as does the world around us, past present and future.
