Coven of the Desert Muse

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Phoenix, Arizona
Key Contact: Rowan

Spiritual Path: Eclectic Wiccan
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Legal Clergy...

Group Overview: The Core members of the Coven of the Desert Muse are a small collective of Elders each with 5 to 10 years or more Educational background and group Ritual experience. Ranging in ages from 28 to 50+.

Note: As we feel that unguided study or practice as a teenager does not provide the background that we seek in our members, we will not consider open inquiries for active membership from anyone under the age of 25.

**At this point we have elected to invite inquiries from qualified Men and Women with a minimum of 5 years active experience including group experience.

We will close the group at a manageable number of members whether we have reached a perfect balance of male female polarity or not. Be aware that you may be out numbered.

Students MAY be considered based on your pre interview questionnaire answers and personal interview with Coven Elders.

Our Rites honor both the masculine and feminine polarities of the divine. i.e. We are not a strictly feminist group.

Participating members are expected to be able to attend at least 75% of all gatherings, including Planning Dinners, Moons and Sabots, unless under special circumstance excused by Clergy.

Everyone is expected to be capable of serving one or more assisting posts throughout the year and/or to take an active part in all Ritual Circles.

If you are stage shy, do not apply.

This is a very important consideration: We prefer not to READ our Ritual liturgy during Rites. We expect you to be able and willing to memorize portions of text, postures and movement.

Expect a succession of qualified Clergy to take center Circle throughout the year as each elevates in Degree & Initiation. And while we do have a basic Ritual format that you will learn, we encourage creativity and expect to experience many different elements of Ritual with each Priest or Priestess.

Aside from our name "Desert Muse" we are not Greek Recreationists and do not specifically model our Rites and Rituals after the Greek traditions. Expect that Rites, although flexible, will be primarily Wiccan in form and format.

**We are also a “Working Coven” and participate in the Arts and Rites of Magick

*Desert Muse currently offers a degree system of initiation, pursuant to our own developing tradition.

You will be expected to learn the Charge of the Goddess and/or God in some form before elevating in degree.

We are NOT a Sky-Clad Coven. Desert Muse members work Robed. NOTE: Only Clergy members are permitted to wear black.

Initiate Ritual Wear colors are determined by degree level. 1st Year Initiates wear white, unless verifiable previous Coven achievements and Initiations allow otherwise.

We are NOT a Family Group, i.e. We do not allow children or Non Member guests to attend works of Magick, Moons or Initiations.

Meetings are often bi-monthly. They may include Full Moon observance as well as a casual lunch or dinner gathering to discuss upcoming needs and Ritual focus.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Again - Full Moons, Dedications, Initiations, and all acts of Magick are restricted to core members (Strictly enforced) .

Initiations are ONLY open to attendance by members who have achieved that level of initiation themselves.

Sabots and other Holiday activities are happily open to family and guests by invitation only, at the discretion of the Coven.

We do not advertise our gatherings to the general public, nor do we invite casual observers to view our private Rites or workings for any reason.
