Well-Read Witch Pagan Book Club, Yavapai Chapter

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Prescott, AZ, Arizona
Key Contact: Willow Raven

Spiritual Path: Various
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: None Offered

Group Overview: Merry Meet!

Welcome to the Yavapai County Chapter of The Well-Read Witch Book Club. The Well-Read Witch Book Club was named after the book by Carl McColman and first formed in Merriville, Indiana. I formed the Inland Empire/Southern California chapter in September of 2005 and relocated to Prescott, AZ in May 2006. The IE chapter is still going strong and I felt the need to expand my endeavor to Yavapai
County. We hope to see many more chapters of the Well-Read Witch around the country or the world in the future!

My name is WillowRaven and I have been a practicing eclectic Pagan for almost ten years and a self-proclaimed bookworm for almost 30. I was born in Southern California (Redlands) and raised on a cattle ranch in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I graduated from NAU in Flagstaff and fell in love with Northern Arizona during
my three and a half year tenure there and am glad to be back.

I have joined several online Pagan book clubs in the past and found them fun, interesting and educational but still lacking something for me. I came across the Well-Read Witch site, an integrated online and live book club and a fire was lit within me. I recognized my own need to meet with a real, live group of like-minded people who both love to read and feel the same connection to all things that brought me to this spiritual path. In this way, my endeavor is selfish. However, I do want to bring something to life that, hopefully, is a genuine group effort, presents an opportunity for intellectual challenge and spiritual growth and, above all, is a lot of FUN!

The structure of the group is uncomplicated. Each month we will open the forum to ideas for new reads. I'll compile a list of those ideas and we'll vote by poll on the new book of the month. We'll take about 3 weeks (read length is adjustable according to book length) to read and then meet to discuss the book. Online chatting is also encouraged…just make sure you leave plenty to say in person. If you can't meet with us in person, you are more than welcome to chat about the book online, just make it explicitly obvious in the subject line if your post contains any spoilers.

We will be switching off between fiction and non-fiction, however much of the group structure is still up for discussion. The club is open to reading fiction, non-fiction and just about any Pagan-related material from various paths. After all, we all have one thing in common. So, I welcome you all to join this little club in the spirit of Magick.

Happy Tome Traveling!
