Tucson Area Wiccan-Pagan Network (TAWN)
Age Range/Type: Family
Located in: Tucson, AZ, Arizona
Key Contact: April
Spiritual Path: All Pagan Traditions and Paths
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy...

Group Overview: TAWN embraces diversity. Since its beginnings in 1987, the Tucson Area Wiccan/Pagan Network, comprised primarily of Wiccans and other Pagans in the Tucson, Arizona vicinity, has grown to include members from many traditions. We also have a Forum on Yahoogroups that includes out-of-state members.
The Wiccan Rede, paraphrased, that is "if you harm none, do as you will." is a rule that is positive and life affirming. There seems to be an aspect of this simple quote in ALL Neo-Pagan paths whether or not they are Wiccan in origin. We ask that those that seek membership in TAWN at least hold to this life affirming and positive rede in whatever path they choose to follow.
November 1996 saw our recognition by the State of Arizona as a non-profit educational corporation. We were recognized as a federal 501-c-4 non-profit organization in 1997. TAWN has several goals.....
We try to promote communication, understanding, and goodwill among our members.
Bridging the gaps between solitaries and coveners, traditionals and eclectics, Wiccans, Shamans, Native Americans, and other Pagans is an ongoing challenge. When we come together to share ideas, however, we find far more similarities than differences. In this way we build a spiritual community based on a love and reverence for Nature.
All Goddesses and Gods are valid for those who revere them. Respect for Mother Earth and all her children (human, animal, plant life, etc.) , environmental concerns, and a striving for balance in our lives are common threads.
Unfortunately, Witchcraft and Paganism have a bad reputation in the general population. This is due to a lot of misconceptions spread over the years by organized religions, Hollywood, and others.
One of TAWN's missions is to counter this ignorance with correct information about us and our beliefs, ethics, and values.
TAWN meetings, open to all, are held at our monthly Cauldronlucks (what else do you call a potluck for Witches?) . These occur on the 2nd Sunday of each month (except the 3rd Sunday in May, in deference to Mother's Day) at the ramada in La Madera Park on Treat, north of Glenn, between Tucson Blvd. and Country Club Road. The business part of the meeting begins at 11:00 AM and the Cauldronluck and Social part of the meeting begins immediately after the business meeting.
Members of TAWN are strongly urged to attend the monthly business meetings to have a say in what TAWN does in the community. TAWN members are the force behind TAWN. The TAWN Board is merely the "eyes and ears" of the community and will bring concerns and propose changes to TAWN to the membership in attendance at the business portion of the monthly TAWN meetings.
The TAWN Information Line alerts members and the public to all events: Cauldronlucks, Adult Education classes, and Open Rituals--all of which are also listed in our newsletter, Tapestry. Subscriptions are $15.00 per year for 4 issues or $4.80 per issue available at Cauldronlucks.
We reach out locally to interfaith organizations, and nationwide to communicate with other Wiccan and Pagan organizations.
