Group Overview: Hello,

I’m Andais NicEssus. I’m an Arizona Native and I live in Tempe. I have been trying over the last year or so to find an organization or group of my peers and have yet to find what I am looking for. After much thought, I have decided to try and bring together a group of people instead. Like the main page on the website states, I’m forming group of Family Oriented, Eclectic Pagans and Urban Primitives. What does that mean?

Family Oriented:
While I would like to host meetings to discuss topics most children would yawn over, I think it important to include family and children into the group. I personally do not have any children, but there are many people in my life who DO. I understand that getting a babysitter to go wax philosophic in the park with a bunch of pagans just really isn’t logical. I think planning to meet at a place like Kiwanis park will allow the children some playground time, and the parents the opportunity to hone a tradition to pass onto the next generation. For us who have yet to spawn, it is important that a community be well balanced and include all ages. I also want to make it clear that elements like sex, bloodletting, sacrifice, and other adult content, are perfectly acceptable on an individual level, however, these elements will not be included in this group. We can discuss them, sure, but we will not act upon them as a group. This is not a group that will do sex magiks, etc.

Eclectic Pagans:
I struggled with this term for a while. I’m personally an Eclectic Wiccan and while that is my personal choice, I do not want to set boundaries on a group before it is even formed. The purpose of this group is to form a community of like minded people who would like to learn and grown, and desire a balanced approach to the wellbeing of Mind, Body and Spirit. What can I learn from you? What can you learn from me? Whatever path you walk, bring your experiences.

Urban Primitives:
This is an interesting term, and I’m sure the definition is up for some debate. Here is what it means to me. Urban: City Dwelling, and Primitive: people or culture that is tribal and non-industrial. In other words, an oxymoron. And it feels like an oxymoron at times, following a “nature based” religious philosophy and living in a seemingly non-natural environment. It can be difficult to say the least. We can discuss patio gardening and tattoos, or how sewer water is still the Element of Water, or City Deities, or how we can become better citizens, embrasing the chaos of a city, and the beauty of non-natural, as nature.

My aim in forming this group is to initiate discussion, to bring together a community of like minded individuals, for networking, and perhaps rituals if that’s what we decide, and supporting each other and Walking the Well Worn Path in an Urban Jungle.

If these are the kinds of things YOU are interested in, please contact me! I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Many Blessing!
A. NicEssus
