Group Overview: The path of the Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid (CTG) , as practiced by the Grove of the Flaming Door, its parent coven Coron Morwyn, and its sister coven Cauldron of the Woode was formally established by Elders from several other traditions on December 8, 2001.
This "family" or "body" of materials and teachings and ultimately derives from Lady Gwen (Gwynne) Thompson. (More about our lineage can be found at http://www.gwyddonaid.org.) The Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid places emphasis on God/dess forms derived from both the Welsh and broader Celtic pantheons.
CTG is open to all sincere seekers, regardless of sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identification. Each coven is autonomous, yet follows the form and function of the Tradition.
Outer Court Training:
The Grove of the Flaming Door is currently accepting students for Outer Court training in two Bay Area locations: San Francisco (led by Barinthus) and Sonoma (led by Linden) . This training consists of 13 classes held over roughly a time period of nine months. Classes will begin in November, and are held in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco, led by Barinthus, and in Sonoma County, led by Linden. Our purpose is to foster within each individual member inner and outer personal development and an increase in magical knowledge and skills, while guiding dedicated seekers on the Path of Light to the Goddess and God of our tradition.
Outer Court training prepares you for initiation into the Inner Court where additional opportunities for training and growth are offered. Energy work, meditation, sacred space, the Sabbats and Esbats, moon magic, candle magic, the mythology of the tradition are some of the topics covered. Students will be expected to do reading between classes and other related work.
Our ideals are simple - to offer the best we can to those who wish to learn; to reach as far and as high as we can in search of Truth. To be true to ourselves, our teachings and our Gods. The Grove of the Flaming Door expects its students to form their own judgments, to ask questions and to develop a responsible attitude toward their studies. We will not do the work for you; you must want to do it. We will, however, help whenever and however we can. We can help bring you to the Door. How you pass through, and what you find there, is your personal Quest. We are a part of a family of covens that places great value on both community and preserving the ancient traditions within the context of modern day life.
