Group Overview: Sage Moon Grove is a local congregation of Ravenwood Church and Seminary of the Old Religion, which was founded by the late Lady Sintana, Witch Queen and Elder High Priestess of Ravenwood in 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. We honor Lady Maia, High Priestess of Ravenwood, Lady Astraea, High Priestess of Myst of the Wildwood, Lord Lugh, High Priest of Dragonwood, as well as Lady Larina and Lord Gaelin of the House of RavenStone, as our elders. We also honor the memory of the late Lord Merlin, Elder High Priest of Ravenwood, Consort of Lady Sintana, distinguished grand-elder of Sage Moon Grove, and guide of our Tradition.
As a Traditional coven, Sage Moon Grove’s purpose is to carry on the work that was the vision of Lady Sintana: creating a place of learning and guidance for those seeking spiritual growth in the path of the Lord and Lady, the path of nature, the path of balance and harmony, the path of the Old Religion. Being a traditional coven means we honor where we came from and the teachings of our ancestors. It does not mean that we do not change. On the contrary, as nature shows us, all things must continually change in order for life to exist.
Sage Moon Grove, along with sister covens Ravenwood and Myst of the Wildwood in Atlanta, and Dragonwood in Albuquerque, is a member of the Ravenwood Tradition. Located in Encinitas, California, Sage Moon Grove also seeks to honor and align with the unique, powerful natural energies of Coastal Southern California. Sage Moon Grove was founded on Beltane, 2007.
We offer classes on all aspects of the teachings of the Old Religion, including Protocol, Laws, Tenets, Myth & Symbolism, Metaphysical Theory, Magickal Theory, Tools, Ritual and Energy. We also offer spiritual guidance and training for those called to be priests and priestesses. We believe that to be a priest or priestess in the Craft takes hard work, dedication to learning, and an open heart and mind. Our commitment is to embrace and encourage spiritual growth, not to shield students from the lessons that come from commiting oneself to the Path of the Wise.
In adddition to classes, we celebrate the eight seasonal Sabbats of the Wiccan Wheel of the Year along with the Esbats (full-moon rituals) .
