South Bay Circles

Age Range/Type: Family
Located in: South San Francisco Bay Area, California
Key Contact: Bianca

Spiritual Path: Pan-Pagan
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy...

Group Overview: South Bay Circles is a not-for-profit umbrella organization of local circles and covens. We celebrate Pagan holidays (calendar based on Wiccan Sabbats) in the greater Santa Clara/Silicon Valley, south of San Francisco.

Our mission is to provide Pagan community seasonal festivals in an atmosphere that welcomes both solitary and non-solitary Pagans, and which Pagans may, if they wish to bring them, comfortably share with openminded non-Pagan friends and family.

Member groups (covens, groves, kindreds, etc.) take turns organizing and presenting the ceremonies. Celebrations are inclusive, and in most cases fully accessible to the physically challenged. Well-behaved children are welcome, but should remain under the watchful eyes of their parents or other guardians; occasional winter events may not be appealing to children.

Festive attire is encouraged, though not required.

All celebrations include the ceremony and a potluck dinner. Sometimes the presenters will include additional features, such as games, music, swap meets, or collection of canned goods or other items for local charities.

During the summer half of the year the meetings are held outdoors; the winter festivals are held in rented halls. We ask for a donation of $10 per person (or $20 per family) at all festivals, in order to cover the cost of the winter hall rentals, since the winter events run deeply in the red. We have no paid staff of any kind.

No one is turned away for lack of funds.

The winter Sabbats usually have a gather time of 6 pm; the remaining Sabbats usually have a gather time of 1 pm. We ask that everyone bring a potluck item.

Our focus, as an organization, is on celebrating seasonal festivals. Though not part of our official mission, we also have many Elders who are legally-ordained clergy, available for weddings and other needs.

Some of our groups and Elders teach; others do not. We will generally try to help people find a local teacher or training group if they are looking for one.

Blessed Be!
