Fire Circle Coven

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Denver, Colorado
Key Contact: Sophlili Achnil

Spiritual Path: Experiential Witchcraft
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: Fire Circle Coven is based in Denver, CO. We are an Eclectic Pagan coven exploring personal growth through Experiential Witchcraft. Throughout the year we offer both open and closed educational classes & workshops alongside our Sabbat & Esbat rituals.

What is Experiential Witchcraft?
All spiritual experiences are just that - spiritual. They happen outside of language. This coven is about learning and growing by way of deep, intimate personal experiences with Divine. We value each person's experience. We do not adhere to any specific path or set of traditions and instead seek to form our own traditions within our circle based on our connections with each other and Divine.

Experiential Witchcraft invites us to aproach witchcraft from an organic perspective. Rather than looking for someone from the past to lay out the methods of our practice, we encourage practitioners to listen to their inner voice and that of Source to guide them in ritual, spellcrafting, and daily life. While the knowledge, and sometimes wisdom - found in books has value, Experiential Witchcraft asks it's practitioners to imagine there are no books.

What if there were no books on witchcraft?
What if there was no such thing as the word "witchcraft" ...
Would magick still exist?
What would it look like?
What would it sound like?
What would it "feel" like ... to you?
What if no one had ever told you the name of a Goddess or God?
What would you call them?
Would there be one, or many?
Do they require you to "earn" their love with offerings?
Do they require you to bring anything but yourself in order to speak with them? If so, why?

These are some of the things we ask coveners to explore in depth.

Experiential Witchcraft invites it's practitioners to get back to the basics of living in harmony with nature and the seasons, get a field guide and learn the local plants, animals, and ecosystems for themselves. We get outside - you know, outdoors *wink* - and explore these with our own eyes as a coven. We look deeply at our own personal set of archetypes, alongside World archetypes to explore how they serve us, and how some do not. We look at community and explore what that means to each of us, and how we can serve the circles of community that we live in. We assist each of our covenmates to explore their strengths, asking them, "Forget what you are "supposed" to know - what is so easy for you that it is like breathing?"

We do all we can to foster within each practitioner a deep sense of self-possession and accountablity for how their lives show up. Experiential Witchcraft invites us to notice what is going on in our lives and brings our awareness to focus on our own powerful Creator selves. Working within the void, we strip away all the barriers to self and Source.

Do we ever work with knowledge from the past
and well-known Goddesses & Gods?
In short, the answer is yes. We recognize the immense value of what has come before us and create with these things as well. We simply don't see them as the end-all be-all and place greater attention on what wants to arise from within and from Source.

Do we follow the Rede?
While we are non-violent and do not seek to harm anything, we do not follow the Rede. We recognise that while the intentions of the Rede are honorable, for us - they do not account for the full scope of the human experience. The perceptions of reality are not always as cut and dry as our Ego would like to project that they are. It is easy for us as humans to do or say things that later, through our personal experience we come to know did not serve us or the greater good of all. These experiences in themselves though serve the greater good by bringing home to us in a very real and personal way what does not work. When a decision is made that results in harm - to oneself or others - our practitioners are encouraged to look at their actions and make appropriate adjustments. While making ammends can be noble, the most honorable thing is to take action witin oneself. For us, experiences are not right or wrong and all experiences are equally valuable.
