Group Overview: House of the Sacred Scarab is a Modern Kemetic Group. It's a pretty simple idea but one that had yet to be solidified. We seek to recreate the spirit of Ancient Egyptian rituals in a way that is accessible in modern times. Modern people want that connection to deity, but some groups miss the mark when it comes to actually feeling their faith. Other groups that I have seen really feel the Gods but mix many other traditions and coat it all with a veneer of Egypt, and call it good.
Modern Kemeticism finds the core of the ancient beliefs, those things that call out to humanity across the sands of time. We then recreate these ideas in a way that pleases and is in service to the ancient Gods and Goddess but still relevant to modern people who are living modern lives. (Birth, death, rebirth, love, loss, family, friendship and right order mean as much to us now as they did to our ancestors 4, 000 years ago but how we view and understand these things has changed over time.)
Unlike our Hard Reconstructionist brethren our goal is not to do exact recreations of ancient rituals and rigidly do what our forefathers and mothers did. Unlike Egyptian Wicca we don't mix in ceremonial magic or eastern philology, because the ancient ways are a complete path unto themselves. We are not Pan-Africanist or Black Nationalist, we don't re-write history to suit our needs.
