Jacksonville has been sponsoring Pagan Pride Day since approximately 1998. We have a committee of volunteers that coordinate this even each year.
The Jacksonville Pagan Pride Day started at a small pavillion on the beach and has grown to be housed on the entire grounds of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville! We see over 300 people at our event each year.
Our event consists of: a charity drive for food and pet supplies for local charities, a public Mabon ritual, an all day event with workshops, vendors, concerts, craft classes, concession, raffles, guest speakers, book signings and author talks, children's activites, and psychic readers. There is something for everyone!
For several months prior to our Pagan Pride Day, we hold fundraising events. These funds allow us to offer our Pride Day as a free event to everyone! There is no charge to attend, no charge for classes and workshops or the children's activities, and no charge for the concerts!
We also spend time doing community service projects. Some of the projects we have been involved with are Toys for Yule, food and clothing drives for local charities, sponsoring Thanksgiving dinners for families, and visiting the local children's hospital with gifts.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the many activities we plan. We also enjoy hearing new ideas on how to make our event, and our city better.
