The Mystic Grove of Central Florida

Age Range/Type: Family
Located in: Orlando, Florida
Key Contact: Tom Cook

Spiritual Path: Open to all traditions / paths
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: Greetings,

The Mystic Grove is a group of Pagans that is part of the First Unitarian Church of Orlando. If you're aware of CUUPS (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans) , we're basically like that, but we're not an actual member group of CUUPS.

Number of participants: We currently have about 20 or so people who take part in our activities.

Membership:- we have no official membership. We call all the regular attendees "members" Many members are also members of the First Unitarian Church, but others are not.

Make-up of the Group: Our group includes some children, and we are always open to families. The adults vary from early 20s up to the 60s. We have straight, gay and bi members, singles and couples, and a good mix of men and women. There are members who have been Pagan for over a decade and others who are just learning. Some have a lot of education, others only a bit. Many of us are active with social and political causes.

Tradition or Path: We are made up of Pagans from different paths as well as free-spirits. Because of this, Mystic Grove has no official path. Whoever is in charge of ritual, decides how to proceed. We like the unusual. We often have lively discussions about theology, ritual, philosophy, tradition and more. Yet we are not totally an intellectually focused group. Our focus is to learn, to teach, to worship, to serve and to have fun.

Activities:

Monthly discussion group: First Sunday of the month at 12:30PM. We meet at the Church, usually in the Assembly Room. This meeting is also our planning meeting - where we decide what else we want to do.

Sabbat Rituals: We hold regular rituals, typically on Saturday evenings close to the actual date. Ask us for more information.

Classes/Workshops: With the connection with the Wiccan Religious Cooperative of Florida, we hold both a monthly Moon Circle on the Wednesday closest to the full Moon, and a monthly Ritual Study Group on first Thursdays. We also hold sporadic workshops. Ask us for more information.

Clergy: We have at least two members who are ordained clergy, and several who are notaries and therefore can legally marry people. If you wish, we can hold handfasting and other rites of passage rituals. We would be interested in working with you!

Etc.: We are open to all good people. Check us out!

Since we're an ecclectic group in Central Florida, which means we aren't tied to a specific tradition or the typical changes of the season, we've renamed our sabbats & esbats:
