THE DRAGON AND THE ROSE COVEN OF GEORGIA

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Near Atlanta, Georgia, Georgia
Key Contact: Rain Dove

Spiritual Path: Jordanian Trad / Celtic Wicca
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Teaching Available

Group Overview: The Dragon and The Rose is a Closed Teaching Coven that focuses on Celtic Traditions of Wicca. By using the term "Celtic", we are not referring to a reconstruction of Celtic lifestyles. We are referring to attempting to practice, to the best of our abilities, the same religious path and follow the same religious beliefs of our Celtic Ancestors.
Rain Dove has been practicing and walking the path of Wicca since 1996, but has been studying since 1994. She is married with two grown daughters and five grandchildren. Rain Dove has been a contributing member of the Pagan community in several ways including and not limited to providing benefits for non profit organizations that were in the business of providing homes and care for our animal kingdom as well as our environment. She has also previously owned a metaphysical shop from 1998 to 2002.
The Dragon and The Rose Coven is based on an elemental degree system. There are 6 degrees beginning with Sponsorship, going on to Dedication, then to 1st Degree, 2nd Degree, 3rd Degree and last a Coronation.
The Jordanian Tradition was developed and designed by Rain Dove's own experiences and training in this path. The Tradition is a mixture of Irish Paganism, Celtic Studies, Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca. The studies and curriculum include the history of Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism, the basics of Wicca with extra curriculum, Celtic and Norse mythology, Celtic history with focus on the hermetic principles as a means of practicing magic, the 7 core beliefs of Wicca, the 13 Principles of a Witch, the Wiccan Rede and the 161 Laws. The Dragon and The Rose meets for Sabbats and Esbats and attends other planned festivities together.
Novices are accepted every Spring at Beltaine. No new students are being accepted at this time for 2012. Anyone interested in joining the Jordanian Trad must petition the Coven and apply in the Spring of 2013. Each Novice will undergo a sponsorship for 6 months with an older member of the Covenstead before being accepted into the Tradition. They will be part of outer Circle until after their sponsorship. After the sponsorship has ended, the Novice may then begin their Dedication level at which time they become a "Dedicatet" of the Jordanian Tradition. Their Dedication period will last 6 months and they will then be considered a part of inner Circle. Once Dedication is over , they are eligible for 1st Degree initiation. However, all people learn at a different pace and it may take some longer than others. We really cannot place a time frame on something of this nature. It is truly up to the person and to the Gods how fast one may learn and progress in this path. The thing to remember is that you will get out of this path what you put in it. No more, no less. Once a Dedicate makes it into the 1st Degree, . they are then considered to be a "Student Initiate" of the Jordanian Tradition".
Sponsorship and Dedication together lasts for one year and one day. Every level after that is one year and one day (or longer) . It is never less than one year and one day.
Rain Dove was trained through the Bohemian Tradition of Celtic Wicca from Priestess Ember and Priest Blackstar of the Emerald Dragon Coven (formerly Fire Rose Coven) located in Grand Prarie, Texas. My grandmother HPS (and Priestess Ember's HPS) is Lady Randall DeLaney. For more information , contact Rain Dove at the email provided.
