THE DRAGON AND THE ROSE COVEN OF GEORGIA

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Near Atlanta, Georgia, Georgia
Key Contact: Rain Dove

Spiritual Path: Jordanian Trad / Celtic Wicca
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: The Dragon and The Rose Coven of Georgia is a Closed Teaching Coven that focuses on Celtic Traditions of Wicca. By using the term "Celtic", we are not referring to a reconstruction of Celtic lifestyle. We are referring to the attempt to practice, to the best of our abilities, the same religious path and follow the same religious beliefs of our Celtic Ancestors.
Our Tradition is a Lineaged European Celtic Tradition.
HPS Rain Dove has been practicing and walking the path of Wicca since 1996, but has been studying since 1994. She is married with two grown daughters and five grandchildren. Rain Dove has been a contributing member of the Pagan community in several ways including and not limited to providing benefits for non profit organizations that were in the business of providing homes and care for our animal kingdom as well as our environment. She has also previously owned a metaphysical shop from 1998 to 2002.
The Dragon and The Rose Coven is based on an elemental degree system with emphasis placed on Occult and Oral Disciplines. There are 6 degrees beginning with Sponsorship, going on to Dedication, then to 1st Degree, 2nd Degree, 3rd Degree and last a Coronation.
The Teaching Circle developed in 2011 with HPS Rain Dove's own experiences and training in this *specific* path. This is not an *eclectic* path in any way, shape or form.
The studies and curriculum include the history of Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism including the basics of Wicca with extensive extra curriculum along with required reading and reports. Study and research is expected in Celtic and Norse mythology, Celtic and Norse history as well as one's own heritage. There is a focus on the Hermetic Principles as a means of practicing magic. Study, discussion and overviews are included of the 9 foundational core beliefs of Wicca, the 13 Principles of a Witch, the Wiccan Rede and the 161 Laws.
The Dragon and The Rose meets for Sabbats and attends other planned festivities together.
Novices are accepted anytime for the Sponsorship Program.
Anyone interested in joining the Tradition must petition the Coven to begin their Sponsorship and be willing to *work*.
By Petitioning , we mean that you must "ask" to begin your studies and training. The Novice is required to meet all Coven members before they can begin their Sponsorship. Each Novice will undergo a Sponsorship for a period of time with an older member of the Covenstead before being accepted into the Tradition. They will be part of outer Circle until after their Sponsorship is over. After the Sponsorship has ended, the Novice may then begin their Dedication level. Their Dedication Discipline period will last one year and one day and will then be considered a part of inner Circle. Once Dedication is over , they are eligible for 1st Degree initiation. However, all people learn at a different pace and it may take some longer than others. We really cannot place a time frame on something of this nature. It is truly up to the person and to the Gods how fast one may learn and progress in this path. The thing to remember is that you will get out of this path what you put in it. No more, no less. Once a Dedicate makes it into the 1st Degree, they are then considered to be a "Student Initiate of our Tradition of Celtic Wicca".
Every level (except Sponsorship) is one year and one day (or longer) . It is never less than one year and one day for any given level of learning.
HPS Rain Dove was trained in the European Matriarchal Lineaged Tradition of Celtic Wicca under High Priestess Ember and High Priest Graystar at the Fire Rose Coven, located in Grand Prarie, Texas. My grandmother HPS (and High Priestess Ember's HPS) is Lady Randall DeLaney from the Black Rose Coven of the same European Tradition of Celtic Wicca. For more information about training and study at THE DRAGON AND THE ROSE COVEN OF GEORGIA, contact High Priestess Rain Dove at the email provided.
