Prairie Moon Rising: a Gardnerian Coven

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Centralia/Walnut Hill, Illinois
Key Contact: Arwythur

Spiritual Path: Gardnerian BTW
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: My name is Arwythur of "Prairie Moon Rising", which is a Gardnerian Coven off of the Louisville Line of Gardnerian, which is of itself a branch off of the Long Island Line. Traditional Gardnerian Covens are usually run by a working couple, Fe/Male... My wife Thea is the HPS, and I am the HP. I and my Wife/working-partner are both of the 3rd degree. We are a legitimate lineaged line.

Currently, we are accepting new students as of January 2014, and we are still hosting Basic Witchcraft 101 classes out of "Susan's Sanctuary" in Central City, IL. Central City is a northern suburb of Centralia IL. 618-532-0520, or out of our home during one of the "Family Sundays" of scheduled Coven meetings. The 101 is the basic beginning of your formal training. It's purpose is to give you a common language, as to remove as much mis-communication as possible. Senior students, (2nd and 3rd degree) , teach these classes.

We are specifically looking for those of like mind not only to communicate with, but hopefully work with as well. Holiday celebrations are very important to us, as well as group discretion, especially in dealing with the community at large.

Information on our Tradition can be found in several of the good encyclopedias that are available at this time. Wikipedia has an excellant essay on the Gardnerian denomination and most Wicca related topics. I would suggest the very accurate and informative articles at Wikipedia for a start.... but then do the real research.

For those of you who may be considering joining a Tradition, it is a lenghty process, from initiation on through the 3rd degree and then on to leading your own coven, with a great deal of responsibility, and training you the seeker is something that we do not take lightly. The nature of the training and work is such that we all bond as a "Family unit" so-to-speak.... Don't be surprised that BTW, ( ie: Gardnerian) , groups tend to seem a bit standoffish at first. A great deal of time and energy goes into the training process, (at least 3 Years!) , so much so, that we find it necessary to purposefully "weed out" as many of the impulse joiners as possible. We are all out of the "broom closet " at this point, so secrecy is a moot point at this time. I am available and willing to answer anyone's questions, so long as they are of an honest and sincere nature.

We ask that anyone who is seeking, please remember that age isn't an issue with us, but it is an issue wih the State of Illinois. We are very sorry, but we have to ask that seekers who are interested must be at least 18 years of age or older. There is no effective Maximum age requirement written down anywhere, and we have members from 18 through 58 years young... and we believe that you are never too old to work towards betterment of the Self....
