Group Overview: My name is Arwythur of "Prairie Moon Rising", which is a Gardnerian Crone Coven off of the Louisville Line of Gardnerians. Traditional Gardnerian Covens are Matriarchal in structure. My wife Thea is the HPS, and I am the HP. I and my Wife/working-partner are both of the 3rd degree.
I am also one of the Founding Elders of the Arthurian Tradition, a BATW group.
We are opening our Arthurian group to new students as of Jan 1st 2006.... and a new Traditional Gardnerian Coven is starting up in the Richview Illinois area!
We collectively have taught several Wicca 101 classes, (as well as 201, etc.etc) . Currently, we are opening up as a group and we are extending invitations to those who may wish to become members of our denomination. Please read our individual profiles under Centralia on Witchvox and if you are willing, by all means communicate by whatever means suites you....
We are looking for those of like mind not only to communicate with, but hopefully work with as well. Holiday celebrations are very important to us, as well as group discretion, especially in dealing with the community at large.
Information on both of the denominations can be found in several of the good encyclopedias that are available at this time. Witchvox has an excellant essay on the Gardnerian denomination. It is a lenghty process, from initiation on through Eldership, and one that we do not take lightly. The nature of the training and work is such that we all bond as a "Family unit" so-to-speak.... Don't be surprised that BATW, ( ie: Gardnerian and Arthurian ) , groups tend to seem a bit standoffish at first. A great deal of time and energy goes into the training process, (Years!) , so much so, that we find it necessary to purposefully "weed out" as many of the impulse joiners as possible. We are all out of the "broom closet " at this point, so secrecy is a moot point at this time. I am available and willing to answer questions so long as they are of an honest and sincere nature.
We ask that anyone who is sincere please remember that age isn't an issue with us, but it is an issue wih the State of Illinois. We are very sorry, but we have to ask that seekers who are interested must be at least 18 years of age or older. There is no effective Maximum age requirement, and we believe that you are never too old to work towards betterment of the Self....
