Group Overview: "Eormenthoed" ("Great Tribe") is dedicated to reconstructing the folkways of the Anglo Saxon poeple. Through the revival of these folkways we hope to strengthen the bonds fellowship within our tribe, and the greater heathen community.
We practice the folkway known as "Þéodisc Geléafa" ("belief of the tribe") which places great emphasis on the bonds of community, and the development of a tribal identity and worldview that our ancient forebearers would have understood and honored. In doing so, we are reforging the ties between individual, tribe, and the divine.We believe in and honor the Gods and Goddesses of the Germanic folk, the Wights of the land, and our ancestors.
For those who follow the Celtic path, there is the "Breotisc Riht" ("British Rite") , a Celtic reconstructionalist group that exsists as an intergrated part of Eormentheod. The Breotisc Riht honors the ancient Gods and Goddesses of the Celtic peoples, while adhearing to the tribal "thew" ("customes") of their Anglo Saxon cousins.
Ours is not an easy path to follow. Belonging to a tribe requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn and further yourself.
Much of the customs and practices of our Theod are not really able to be taught by internet communications alone they require face-to-face contact to learn and understand. For that reason, we encourage those who find our folkways to be of interest, to look both to contact us for more information. There's so much that can not be learned by reading, so much that must be experienced. If you're willing to learn, willing to prove yourself, we're willing to welcome you into our halls.
