Group Overview: The Sanctuary of the Healers' Heart ~
Has been around since about 1991. It began with an idea back in the 80's that never really came to birth, then, though it has spanned three covens and mentored four.
The Sanctuary is now a legal church in Indiana. The idea was a land sanctuary with all species protected domain, & with ownership of all property aspects to prevent exploitation from across the property line. A place for the HP& HPS (Guardians of the property) and room enough for an inside ritual space for the winter and inclement weather. Perhaps a henge eventually. While the listing says healing it refers principally to those who run the sanctuary due to it's focus being healing.
It was never conceived of as a place for festivals, but rather for small group teaching and training gathers, To worship on Pagan land on the High Holidays, with no charge to worship. Donations are always welcome though. Workshops may have a charge but not for entry to worship just materials.
A place for the teachers and healers to find peace and perhaps healing of their own.
Last there would ultimately be a multidisciplinary healing Arts clinic staffed by Pagan doctors, and other proven healers. This clinic would also provide help for the medically under-served of the local area and any Pagan anywhere needing help when they eventually otherwise run out of ideas or resources.
Rather than have Government interference any more than essential there would be a focus on private grant sources for the clinic.
Our 501 (C) (3) application is in process. It will, however, take significant funds to get the whole Sanctuary started, and we're nearly there!
I had personally envisioned it as a legacy to the Pagan Community, with the potential for generations of health care needs treated there. Hopefully a few spaces for RV's that might need access to the clinic from anywhere.
Consider the perception of Pagans when a clinic providing help to pagan and non-pagan alike is seen as a part of the area community.
