Group Overview: What is CUUPS?
The Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) is an organization dedicated to networking Pagan-identified Unitarian Universalists (UUs) , educating people about Paganism, promoting interfaith dialogue, developing Pagan liturgies and theologies, and supporting Pagan-identified UU religious peoples.
The Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans of Wichita (CUUPsW) , whose members follow earth-based spiritual paths, is the other option. These paths, commonly referred to as ‘Pagan’, may include Druidism, Wicca, Native American, Egyptian or others.
We hold gatherings during the third Friday of every month at The First UU of Wichita. The topics vary and take place in a ritually prepared circle. We also hold other events to celebrate important happenings and the Turnings of the Wheel.
Visit our FaceBook page under C.U.U.P.S of Wichita or email us at cuupsks@gmail.com for the latest info! You can also pick up a CUUPs Gathering schedule at the First UU or check on the web at http://www.firstuu.net/C.U.U.P.S-of-Wichita.html http://www.firstuu.net/calendar.html.
You are welcome to link to our Gmail calendar, if you have a Gmail account. About Paganism in the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) One of the sources of Unitarian Universalism is "Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature."
UUs are also dedicated to "Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." Many UUs understand Paganism within this context while not accepting Paganism as their own personal spiritual truth.
CUUPs Chapter activities may include discussion groups, ritual groups, teaching circles, and worship services for UU congregations.
CUUPs Chapters are autonomous in deciding their own levels and types of activity. There are currently several dozen officially recognized chapters.
Many of UU ministers have identified themselves as Pagan or Earth-centered in their spirituality. This is part of a recent general increase in spiritual interests among UUs.
