Spiritual Path: Degarrin's Tradition
Status: Established Group

Group Overview: Degarrin is a Coven that applies a pragmatic approach to spirituality, and places emphasis upon the betterment of the self, attunement with the Divine, and adaptability. Our tradition is a combination of the founding members' personal experiences, Wicca, Hermeticism, Rootwork, Metaphysics, Psychic Sciences, Magickal Arts, and the Paranormal.
As a Free Church, we work to provide educational opportunities and resources for community interests. Degarrin supports the efforts of various community service organizations which strive to improve our local, national, and global communities. Degarrin’s church location (470 East New Circle Road, Suite 3, Lexington KY 40505) is open to those who wish to attend open workshops and events, utilize some of our community services or simply have a place to study (excluding hosted events) during Ministerial Hours, which are: Monday through Friday from 7PM to 9PM, and Saturday from 3PM to 7PM. Please check our website for more information.
Degarrin takes a proactive stance regarding discrimination and intolerance by responding through the use of media and educational venues. In order to advance these objectives, the Coven provides seminars, workshops, presentations, and interviews to those interested in learning more about the Degarrin Tradition, ethics, religious tolerance, and many other topics.
The Coven is comprised of four main sections: the Magistry, the Camarilla, the Clans, and the Plenum. The Magistry is the overall ruling body of the Coven, and consists of at least one ordained minister (known as the Magistrate) . The Camarilla is the Elder Counsel of Degarrin, and its members oversee the administration of the Coven in conjunction with the Magistry. The Clans are comprised of the general Coven Elders, while the Plenum contains the members who encompass the Coven congregation. Members at all levels of Degarrin have various benefits and responsibilities within the group, and are expected to provide offerings of labor, time, service and/or monies in exchange for offsetting Coven expenses.
We convene weekly for classes, meetings, Sabbat celebrations, Esbats, and other social events. However, operational demands may occasionally require that we meet more or less often.
Degarrin provides its members with a seminary program that offers several different theological degrees. All members are required to complete the seminary and obtain a degree. Some of the topics discussed include: the Degarrin Tradition, parapsychology, religious tolerance, ethics, psychic sciences, magickal arts, paranormal phenomenon, wellness, organization, time management, communications, and general personal development. The program is a system of coursework that includes on-line and correspondence learning, workshops, seminars, group process, and one-on-one mentoring. A member's progress is assessed through status reports, exams, parochial counseling, performance appraisals, and group attunement. Upon successful completion of the seminary program, each member is eligible for advancement within the Coven.
Those interested in membership must be at least eighteen years of age, local to the Lexington KY area, available for weekly meetings, capable of obtaining appropriate materials, willing to volunteer assistance to the Coven and/or community, and able to devote a minimum of ten to thirteen hours per week for studies and/or activities. In addition, prospective members must not smoke or partake of recreational drugs.
