Hello and welcome to Dragon Moon Coven. You interest in dedicating to Dragon Moon Coven brings you to start a new road. On your journey, much will be expected of you. With the support of everyone in the coven, we are confident you will find a nurturing, safe, and comfortable place to learn and grow. During this introduction, we will tell you a little more about the group and then we will highlight what is expected of all dedicants.
Dragon moon coven is a young coven, open to new members who are dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, the craft, and to the god and goddess. We grow daily in knowledge and skills and are proud to be a learning coven that continually strives for truth and balance.
We gather at every full moon Esbat as well as every Sabbat. We also hold classes where we meet to study, learn, and teach each other and all guests. Learning new ways, traditions, and ideas are some of the many goals that we work towards. We offer the chance to expand within our group as well as within yourself.
Reverend Stormy FireDragon is founder and high priest of Dragon Moon Coven. He came into the craft in 1998, founding his first coven in Colorado. From there, he has moved to Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina and New Jersey. He has since made it back home to Louisiana where he hopes to renew the interest of the local pagans in the craft as well as the deities.
We all work hard within the craft and we expect no less from you. We do not want, nor do we allow, game playing. This is real life; your actions can positively or negatively affect the members and friends of Dragon Moon Coven. We have coven by-laws that we ask you to respect and follow. Our rules are strictly enforced in order to assure the safety of the coven and its members. We value all members' ideas and suggestions and all are free to give their opinion. If you are uncomfortable with any by-law (or lack of one which you feel should be included) please bring it to the attention of the council. However, if you purposely and maliciously disregard a rule, you will be asked to leave the group.
We welcome your ideas and perspective as well as your knowledge and desire for learning. All advice and opinions are openly welcomed, so long as they are presented with respect. All members from dedicant to highest elder are valued and deserve to be heard.
As a pre-requisite of dedication, you are asked to attend 3 classes within one month, one full moon esbat and one Sabbat. You may choose to dedicate at any time after this requirement is fulfilled. Dedication is strictly a personal choice and we will not pressure your decision.
Once you have dedicated to dragon moon coven, we will strive to educate and guide you on this new path. The Scholar will be responsible for pairing you with a teacher based on skill level, personality and scheduling. If a suitable teacher is not available, the scholar will personally assign your lessons, help you to successfully pass the tests, and give you a working knowledge of the craft.
During your time with dragon moon coven, you will have the opportunity to earn each of five (5) levels of achievement within our group:
Initiate/ dedicant
1st degree
2nd degree
3rd degree
Hp/Hps
If at any time during your membership within the coven you feel you have learned all you can from us, please let us know so we may find other ways to fulfill your needs. If you decide to break away from Dragon Moon Coven we will support your decision and we will never burn the bridge. If you choose, we give our blessing for you to join another group, start your own group, or continue on your own; but know that you are always welcome to return and celebrate and learn with us.
