The Amethyst Cottage
A WitchVox Sponsor

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Key Contact: L. Sebastian Grey

Spiritual Path: Rosé du Chêne Witchcraft
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: .
Follow the light of the lantern,
To the cottage in to woods!
The one of Amethyst Masonry,
Where once a great temple stood.

And in the gleam of the lantern,
Do gaze upon the thing.
Remember all the witches,
Who here did dance and sing.

And by the flame of the lantern,
Do choose one of the five
Of the paths that give purpose
And meaning to our lives.

And in the glow of the lantern,
Become Healer, Seer, Guide,
Or maybe a Conjurer,
Or a Bard in stride.

By the flicker of the lantern,
Find wisdom and a sword,
A Servant of the Lady,
A Warrior of the Lord.

And with the luminous lantern,
They illuminate your mind,
Fill your soul with knowledge,
And with wisdom sight in kind.

***UPDATE: We will continue accepting applicants until September 1st (The website link will bring you directly to the application) . After that, we will not be accepting new students for at least six months. From then on we will begin accepting new students only once a year. We are doing this because, though we are flattered by the number of applicants, we can only take on a few students at a time and they need our full attention for at least a year. Those that have submitted an application already will be contacted soon with further details. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in coming to functions and rituals as you can still be screened for that ***

***UPDATE: We will soon be able to provide online classes and correspondence to those that live outside of our general radius. ***

*This coven is dedicated to bettering its surroundings through volunteerism and community service. Currently our major outlet for this is working through the programs established by the local Unitarian Church. WE ARE IN NO WAY AFFILIATED DIRECTLY WITH OR ENDORSED BY THE UNITARIAN CHURCH.

*We are Witches that believe in change and do our best to see that change come about. We believe in hard work in both the mundane and metaphysical realms. We believe in standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves and in truly doing the work of the Goddess and God.

*We are a group of individuals ranging in age from 20-36. We are open to ALL ages, but applicants under the age of 18 need parents’ permission and participation in order to even be considered.

*To answer some FAQ’s: We do not practice sky clad, we have ordained clergy, our training is fairly comprehensive, there is a Covenstead, and we aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

*We embrace the Four-Fold Goddess and God (Maiden, Mother, Queen, and Crone/ Master, Father, King, and Elder) . We also work with Spirit as a tangible fifth element in all of our rituals.

*Our craft is based on the tradition taught to the founder. The Rosé du Chêne (or Rose Oak) tradition is steeped with old craft, but due to its very nature, carries an amount of eclecticism. Our tradition incorporates anything that it considers to grow the tradition regardless of the spiritual/magickal/cultural roots of the practice. This has lead to the incorporation of a plethora of magickal practices such as Shamanic Medicine and Hoodoo, but also the addition of spiritual aspects from Catholicism, Unitarian Universalism, and Animism.

*Our craft is not for everyone. It is not a matter of being pompous or exclusive. Our tradition takes hard work, dedication, time, and a bit of sacrifice. Not everyone can afford all of these things.

*Due to the work needed to train in our tradition, lessons are FREE (Including Online Courses) . The Supplicant/Student is asked to cover the out of pocket expense that is spent to provide materials, but neither the coven nor its clergy make a profit from lessons. The exchange of energy is done through volunteering for the coven and within the community.

*Students/Members are held to a very high code of behavior. All Students/Members are required to sign a behavioral covenant before they can dedicate. This may sound strict but it comes from members falling flat on their faces and the lessons learned from those events.

*Our tradition is NEITHER matriarchal nor patriarchal. We strive for true balance. The title of Priest and Priestess are given to members based on what THEY feel is right. So in case you didn’t get the hint, our transgender brothers and sisters can be themselves in this circle. (“Nothin’ says lovin’ like a Witch in DRAG!”)

*Currently we are an INVITATION ONLY circle for sake of protecting our members. If you would like to be invited to a ritual send us a message.

*If you are interested in meeting with Leadership please send us a message. Contact will be made via email to set up a time and place to meet in person.

*For those with previous training, we are willing to work with you to supplement your existing training to synchronize with Rose Oak teachings after the initial screening process.

*All persons must be screened before attending a ritual.
