Group Overview: We are an eclectic Wiccan group affiliated with the Covenant of the Pentacle Wiccan Church of New Orleans, La. Our circle has been active in Lafayette since 2002. We are multicultural and multiethnic, and we value the contributions all our members bring from our diverse backgrounds to add to our melting pot--or melting cauldron--in worship, celebration and learning. We approach our spiritual path as a matter of daily practice for our daily lives, but while we are very serious about what we do, that doesn't mean we ever take ourselves too seriously!
We offer in-person classes leading to the First Degree, and welcome all inquiries from serious Seekers. This class is a year-and-a-day study program incorporating history and anthropology as well as magical and energy work; students who complete the course will have the option to initiate as either a Solitary on the path of Wicca or as a First Degree Priest/ess in the CPWC. Any fees are reasonable and negotiable; applicants may be subject to a background check through a law enforcement agency. Further training is available from CPWC, including the possibility of legal ordination and tax-exempt status where appropriate.
We hold occasional open or public rituals, and regularly work with other Pagan groups in the Lafayette area to sponsor community-wide events such as a monthly "Coffee Cackle" and an annual Metaphysical Fair. We also support a food and sundry bank and a bi-annual toy and clothing drive for the needy in cooperation with our mother church in New Orleans. We all work to create a more harmonious community, and we welcome both solitaries and covens under the umbrella of the CPWC.
