Greater New Orleans Pagan Pride Project

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: New Orleans, Louisiana
Key Contact: Emily Snyder

Spiritual Path: Eclectic Pagan and Syncretic
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: We are the Greater New Orleans Pagan Pride Project, a 501c3 group based in New Orleans but organized under the charter of the national Pagan Pride Project in California. Our goal is to bring together the Pagan community one day a year to gather in celebration of our spiritual identities, and provide an open forum and safe haven to educate those in our greater community who aren't Pagan. Unlike other Pagan Pride organizations, we proudly welcome individuals and groups that belong to the various syncretic traditions in our city that do not necessarily define themselves as Pagan, yet share similar practices and beliefs. We celebrate our pride through 4 main pillars that are aligned with the elements of creation:

Air - We work to provide educational opportunities for those who want to learn more about Paganism (both its belief systems and practices)

Fire - We work as activists to combat prejudice, stereotypes, and all forms of discrimination.

Water - Since most Pagan Pride days happen during our harvest season, we collect canned goods and other materials to donate to charity and share our harvest.

Earth - We host events to bring together individuals and groups doing good work in our community!

Education - Activism - Charity - Community

We formed in May of 2012, and held our first Pagan Pride Day on September 21st, 2013, at the New Orleans Healing Center on St. Claude Avenue. Since then, we have changed our date to the first two weeks of October, and have held the event consecutively in Washington Square Park, on the border of the Marigny and the French Quarter.

We are open and welcoming of new people who want to get involved as volunteers, or even serve on our planning committee.

Please visit our website and Facebook page for updates on our many events that we host throughout the year (Pagans in the Park, The Witchcraft & Whimsy Halloween Dinner Cruise, Pagans Night Out/Trivia Night, and more) .
