The Free Light Society

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Ponchatoula, Louisiana
Key Contact: Lady K.

Spiritual Path: Free Light Witchcraft
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: ***We are in the process of incorporating as a Religious Organization and getting our 501* tax exemption. Currently. We are just so small it doesn't really matter. :-)

There are 4 of us, we're open/willing/hoping to grow to 6-7 in the next 18 months.

**Worship Space for RENT for small groups doing Goodness. (20 people MAX, everyone must sign a liability waiver) . Reasonable Rates! $20/hour for 4 or less people. More than 4 call for a quote. Jam Bands welcome too at an additional cost for additional electricity.

The Free Light Society teaches witches how to practice, how to find thier faith, and how to blend them together. But we don't get to decide what "Great Spirit" means to you. We don't tell you what to beleive in or what God/s or Goddess/es to believe in.

We offer training and mentoring in Free Light Witchcraft. Because our coven is very small, We only take 1-4 students at a time and spend a year or two with them.

We, currently, can only take 1 additional student. Possibly two...We already have two for this next group. We'd rather take one, but if there's a duo out there (like a couple, or roommates, etc.) looking for a learning opportunity, I would be willing to take the both of you.

Being accepted as a Seeker (fancy for "student") DOES make you a member of our Society but DOES NOT entitle you to membership within the Coven. Membership is decided after your first 13 months.

Our curriculum for Seekers/Scholars/Society-Members is 13 months. Students spend ~6 months studying Foundations of Spiritual Witchcraft and then ~6 months of Basic Applied Metaphysics. In the correct circumstances, Non-Members students may be approved for an additional study program of 18 months in the "Study and Practical Applications of the Arts and Sciences of Witchcraft, Level 1".

Students who become members do so because they wish to live a life in which they study and practicing their craft daily. Joining the coven is akin to joining a religious order and one should only do it they feel called to be trained and serve as a member of the Clergy.

We DO NOT charge $$$$ for classes. Students are expected to provide their own materials and absorb the cost of their education and supplies unless we arrange otherwise. Essentially, students are given a supply list and it is up to them to ensure they have what they need for class.

Since I don't charge, I am BIG on attendance and being on time. Because we function monastically, students who can't meet regularly during the week and weekend probably will not succeed in this group.

We plan to offer public classes once a month starting in 2017 for those with wacky schedules. Keep an eye on your local notices.

We are beings of Goodness and offer training to other beings who serve Goodness. This means people who wish to do good with their Craft. We could care less whether or not you are a Night Being.

Night Beings are an essential part of the balance and I know many a Good Witch that is also a Night Being. One, for example, works for a local coroners office dealing with death and murder. He uses his natural gifts to make sure souls pass on and to encourage the capture of criminals. Night Beings (or anyone interested really) can apply for an internship with a local teacher that specializes in teaching Night Beings in how to use their gifts for Goodness.
