Group Overview: The Avatarian Rite of Wicca has been renamed and is now self identified as an independent religion, not a tradition of Wicca. The decision was unanimously made by its Dedicated membership. Updates are not complete everywhere so please visit the website for new information as it becomes available.
The Avatarian Rite of Wicca is a new tradition of Wicca developing in the Pioneer Valley and in the southeastern parts of Massachusetts. It is the love child of somewhat traditional Wicca, Aradian Witchcraft, techniques from Haitian Vodou, and a touch of Kabbalah. Additionally, there is a considerably heavy emphasis on the development of psychic skills in a Coven setting and on the reestablishment of ritual secrecy and a qualified priesthood.
There are five Stages of education offered to prospective membership. They are cumulative, meaning everyone begins with the first before - if they so desire - advancing to the second etc. Of course, interested students of the Craft are not pressured to move on after completing a Stage, and the course work is basically paced by the student. Those enrolled in courses (all free of charge) are considered voting members of the Coven and may vote on issues of administration when they arise.
Our style of magick is simple. We focus mainly on transformational ritual work and spells come second. We are an ecstatic tradition, which means we really believe in the gods and we worship them. Our rituals also yield spiritual ecstasy and there will be dancing and singing, hooting and hollering, and a general liberation of self. We do not under any circumstances, however, tolerate drug use or orgiastic behavior in the Circle. What you do in private is your business.
