Group Overview: Coven of the Gulbrúnn Villisvín (Amber Wild Boar) is a coven located in Maynard, MA, led by Perseus Greenman and Lady Aurora Freyasdottir. Lady Aurora and Perseus are both initiates within the Black Forest Tradition of Witchcraft and offer training within this tradition. Black Forest is a Pagan seminary founded in Pennsylvania by Llewellyn author Silver RavenWolf, with roots in American Folk Magick/Pow-Wow Braucherie, German, Celtic, and British Trad magickal traditions. Our coven offers a few different ways to participate in the greater Pagan community:
1) Bi-weekly Study Group
Our bi-weekly study group is a non-religious, in-depth exploration of topics of interest to Pagans, including runes, birds and animals, and knights of the Round Table. Currently we are studying the trees of New England by taking hikes in interesting parks, and then returning to our house in order to discuss the biology, mythology, and folklore associated with a specific family of trees. This is open to anyone who is interested in the topic at hand.
2) Neopaganism 101 classes
We are currently looking for an appropriate venue, but in the near future we will be holding Neopaganism 101 classes. These will be 8-week classes that meet once a week in order to discuss the practice and mythology common to many of the Neopagan religions, including Wicca and Witchcraft.
3) Full Moon Circles
We meet the nights of the Full Moon for a celebration of the Gods in ritual and music. (Non-musically inclined welcome!) We welcome those new to witchcraft, or simply interested, although we require a brief preliminary interview (or personal recommendation by someone we know) before extending an invitation.
