William Blake Lodge is a chartered initiatory body of Ordo Templi Orientis (The Order of Oriental Templars, or O.T.O.) serving the greater Maryland, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia metropolitan areas. It has been continuously active for over 20 years since its inception in June 1992 and continues to draw upon eclectic sources to further the study of the spiritual system known as Thelema. Thelema (Greek for "will") celebrates personal freedom and discovery of individual will balanced by discipline, fraternity and love.
William Blake Lodge offers initiation rich in esoteric symbolism and drama as a catalyst for one's personal development. The Lodge also holds dramatic rituals, lectures, classes, meetings, social events and regular public celebrations of The Gnostic Mass (Liber XV) , the central ritual of the O.T.O. This eucharistic rite joyfully unites the divine female and male energies through the pageantry of the cup and the lance. Read through The Gnostic Mass at:

Our Lodge is named after artist, writer and mystic William Blake (1757-1827) whose poetry and art both inspires and describes experiences of the mystical and divine, free of the established religious views of his time. The Gnostic Catholic Church, the religious arm of O.T.O., recognizes William Blake as a gnostic saint since he is a notable being who has helped contribute the light of gnosis to the world.
We provide education with classes on magick, esoteric and occult subjects such as alchemy, astrology, ceremonial magick, Enochian, herbalism, hermetic science, initiation symbolism, meditation, occult studies, kabalah, ritual practices, sacred sexuality, Tarot, yoga, and others. Some classes are open to initiate members only; please refer to our on-line calendar of events for details. Additionally, our Lodge has a sizeable reference library of various magical and occult subjects.
Events are held at our Baltimore temple (3 miles from the Inner Harbor) unless otherwise indicated. We are honored and proud to have a non-residential 2300 sq ft 24/7 dedicated temple, established in May 2008. Facilities include a temple, dining/classroom area, bathrooms and kitchen facilities. The building is locked to the street, so there will be a doorkeeper or call the number below for event entry. The Lodge is located on the 5th floor of The Cambridge Building; there is an elevator which is available only by prior arrangement. The building is old and does not offer handicap access or handicap facilities.
Annual membership dues for William Blake Lodge are $360/year ($30/month) for the 2012 calendar year. Dues pay our rent and fund our programs, and we are exclusively supported through the efforts of our members. Please contact the Lodge Master for membership information.
There is no dress code for events unless specified; "dress as ye will"! Membership and initiation are for adults, but we also hold family-friendly events. It is a kind gesture to bring a snack or drink to events, but not required. Some events request donations or fees. Please refer to the calendar for details.
William Blake Lodge, O.T.O. is a 501 (c) 3 non profit religious and fraternal organization. Donations are tax deductible.
