Group Overview: Welcome to Turning Circle!
We are an open, eclectic Pagan circle. Our unifying thread is an Earth-based spirituality, revering the Earth and her interdependent web of life. We do not follow any one particular Pagan path – rather we embrace them all. Those who believe in one God or Goddess, many Gods and Goddesses, or no Gods at all are welcome in our midst.
Our rituals reflect this variety of beliefs. Rituals are run by volunteers from our membership, and since our members follow a variety of paths, you may experience anything from a Wiccan ritual, or a Druid high day, to a Buddhist meditation, or a Shinto rite.
We generally meet on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center in Columbia, Maryland (OBIC.) We gather at 7:30 PM and rituals begin at 7:45 PM. Sometimes we do shift dates, so please check our online calendar (at http://www.turningcircle.org) to confirm an event. Drop-ins are always welcome to join us!
Turning Circle FAQ Q: I saw that Turning Circle is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Does that mean Turning Circle is a Christian group? A: No. Turning Circle is an eclectic Pagan fellowship. While people of all faiths are welcome, Turning Circle is a part of the Pagan community. Q: Is Turning Circle a coven? A: No. Turning Circle is an open fellowship. Members have voting rights concerning the group's charter and planning, but non-members are free to attend, and participate in, any ritual, service, or gathering. Q: Is Turning Circle a Wiccan group? A: While we have several members who are Wiccan, Turning Circle is an eclectic Pagan fellowship. Wiccans, Druids, Shamans, and all manner of Pagans are welcome. There are a variety of rituals practiced at Turning Circle. Our group never gets stale! Q: Must I be a member of Turning Circle to attend Turning Circle events? A:Absolutely not, all are welcome! Non-members are welcome at all events listed on our calendar. Non-members fully participate in our rituals and may even lead rituals. Q: How can I become a member? A: You must attend three gatherings in a six month period, be a active participant, show an interest in joining, and be voted in. There is an annual due of $10 for being a voting member. Q: Are Pagan children welcome? A: Of course they are! Several members bring their children to our rites and services. Just remember, however, that we don't have a separate activity program for children. Babysitting can be made available with two weeks advance notice.
