Group Overview: Circle of Wondrous Stories is a rather Witchy circle or coven that continues to have some influence in the local Detroit area community since its birth at Candlemas 1991. Still run by longtime leaders and founders Oberon and Banshee ShadowWolf, they are primarily an eclectic circle based on British type Wiccan practices. Over many years, as original members of the Detroit community, the Circle and/or Oberon and Banshee have produced many rituals, workshops and support for other groups or events in the area. Their signature rituals remain the occasional "Hecate Night", as well as the 10 year run of a unique Beltane celebration at Paradise Pines near Port Huron. Their current outreach activities are mostly through the Midwest Region Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess (MRLC/CoG) . http://sites.google.com/site/mrlccog/ ) but they are also involved in Tempest Smith Foundation and occasionally the Federation of Circles and Solitaires, until its recent disbandment. They look forward to appearances at the Michigan Pagan Fest, and other rituals or festivals in the area. Circle of Wondrous Stories is not a teaching coven and currently not accepting new members, but due to our partnership with CoG, we try to assist qualified Witches or Wiccans join CoG or possibly find other Covens or groups that may assist with training and other needs. We occasionally host Sabbats at our home, inviting friends new and old. We participate somewhat in the local Detroit community, having performed dozens of public rituals for Sabbats or other occasions at Convocation, Paradise Pines, Chalice in the Woods, Merry Meet (CoG's own, and one of the oldest Wiccan-Pagan summer festivals) , FoCaS (Federation of Circles & Solitaires) and many more, going back over 20 years. The Circle has a more relaxed operation these days, but Oberon and Banshee still write, network, host workshops and have a number of personal projects they are working on. They were the ritual coordinators at Merry Meet 2010 and were asked present the Main Ritual for Merry Meet in Dallas at Covenant of the Goddess's Grand Council in 2011, which was a variation on their classic Hecate Night ritual and was very well received. Very recently their distance Covener in Dayton, Ohio is entering a role as Chaplain Assistant to the Wiccan and Pagan service persons at Wright Pattersons Air Force base, near that city. Oberon, himself, is working on assisting the Prison Ministry system of Michigan, though his work with the local Aquarian Tabernacle Church chapter.
